Nick Schultz

Don't know what everyone here thinks but I have been pretty impressed with Nick Schultz this year. His point prouction went up, he seems more conifdent, and looks like he ready to break out. I am going to go out on a limb and predict a 25-35 point season for Nick next year. He seems to jump up into the play this year, and is getting some good chances.

What do ya'll think?

Sure would be nice to see that many points from him. He's definitely having a good season this year, and I think his ice time proves it. I wonder about 25-35, though. I think 20-25 would be a nice improvement. I'm not sure he can be as good defensively and jump into the play enough for 25-35 yet, and we all know what Lemaire will make him do.

Unless something goes terribly wrong, I think he's going to be a great defenseman. It's easy to forget he's only 21.

exactly what I'm thinking

Lemaire and Co. have done a good job with him...get him to play nhl caliber defense first...then let his offensive tendencies show.

25-35 points is definitely attainable...hopefully more.

Although, when most of your forwards are in the 20-30 point range, that does seem a bit much.

I have to admit first, I am a big Shultz fan. But does anyone think that him being in a contract year, has anything to do with his stellar play?

Nope - he's just progressing like a good prospect should.

Let Gabby's holdout be a cautionary tale to any greedy prospects in the system.

In all seriousness, I think patience will be the key with Nick. He has shown signs of offensive skill but as long as he stays strong in both zones and doesn't sacrifice one for the other he will always be a top 4 d-man on this team.

It's kind of slippery slope. The more points he puts up, the more money he could demand, and the more offense will be expected. I sorta hope he doesn't put up those type of numbers(25-35) for a while, so his defense develops at the proper pace for his age...and his salary stays down...and thus, no more ugly holdouts.

But what do I know...I'm just a caveman...
