Bob should raid the Senators

Take a look at the Sens Payroll for 09-10.

It's around 58 million with 23 players signed After signing Kovy
http://nhlnumbers.com/overview.php?team=OTT&season=0910

Bob should sign Pleks and send him to Ottawa for Fisher 4.2 cap hit

(First thread be gentle)

Fisher's contract stinks. Why would the Habs want it? They're already paying a premium for a number of their players' services.

Once they deal Heatley it will be down to 51 for 22 (not including who comes back from the other team obviously)

It fills a need for a big right handed center. And for thr 2 million more
on his contract is well justified by what he'll bring to the Habs.

Apparently the deal for Heatley is Smid, Penner, Cogliano
Approx: 6 million return and maybe mor depending on Smid's RFA deal

But Heatley isn't going there so now obviously they will be working on another deal with a different team and i am sure they will get some great young players back and the cap relief they need.

No one else is bidding on Heatley. Murray also said that he wasn't
giving up Heatley for scrap. When announcing Kovalev's signing it was Melnyk who pushed for the signing and said we'll worry about the cap later.

It's either San Jose or Edmonton. San Jose is offering Marleau, Edmonton the package you know. Either way, Ottawa will be taking back significant salary. They need to dump salary somewhere.

OP, were you making a joke about how Gainey helped out the Rags cap situation?

Fisher is overpaid much like Gomez. Unlike Gomez, though, he is not the kind of player you'd have trouble finding someplace else.

Why Bob don't say that too?

Personally I think it's an excellent idea, but between division rivals that might make the price steeper than just Plekanec and we only have 5 picks left for next year's draft. Chances are someone in the west will have the same kind of idea

i don't know if Montreal is in the position to be raiding teams considering where their payroll is heading.

That would be really nice, if Fisher had actually scored 25 goals at least once in his career.

Wow, Kovalev got 5million per, seems like alot of money for him at 36 years old, great powerplay guy, him and Spezza should be good together, the sad thing is the amount of times we will face both Kovy and Komi, yikes, like they wont have something to prove. I wish him all the best, I have to say there were many nights I was in awe of him for his magic, but there were just as many nights when I was disgusted with him for acting like a ghost, he will not score like Heatley but he has sick skills, be interesting to see how it all works out for him.

Useless linemates? Seriously?

They even went so far as to try Daniel Alfredsson repeatedly with him and they had to abandon that plan time and time again because it never worked out and Alffie ended up being less productive.

And relatively no PP time? He had plenty, he was centering the second unit pretty regularly and has been second among Ottawa centers for PP time. Unless you see him replacing Jason Spezza, that's the most he was going to get.
