For that reason, he should still try his best to get a contract in that range from the Leafs, honestly.

1-1.5M playing with a guy he has chemistry with? May as well take it... he was well liked there too.

Maybe Burke doesn't want him now, though...

No real point in the Leafs offering him a contract right now. Mitchell is a solid 4th line centre. Grabo, Stajan & Bozak (and maybe even Kadri) should be able to juggle the top 3 roles better than adding him. That is assuming the Leafs don't make a move for a #1 centre thereby making Stajan the #3.

Is he Steve's brother? I never realized that! Makes sense, of course, but i never put two and two together.

From sources within the family/family friend connection, Moore and the Leafs came to an agreement on a deal, but Burke didn't want to pass up the 2nd rounder from Buffalo.
I am told this has caused some serious dislike in the family of Brian Burke.

Was it Burke or Nonis who was GM when the Bertuzzi incident occurred. I can't remember.

But Brian Burke hates second rounders.

I wouldn't mind adding him to the Habs if Chipchura isn't ready, though I'm not such how much better he is than Metropolit.

"even on bad teams, someone has to score..." - anon

top minutes and 45 points - not bad, but not worth the kinda money he is reportedly seeking.

The most telling stat?

12G-41pts in 63GP in Toronto.
1G-4pts in 18gp in Buffalo.

He dropped from a respectable 0.65PPG to a underwhelming 0.22PPG average within the same season going from a complete non-playoff team to a fringe playoff team in Buffalo.

Pushing hard for a contract you know you can't live up to is the quickest way out of a city. Trust me, I'm a Ranger fan.

Resigned at a discount, probably hurt Moore's case.

I guess it was a discount. I'm not super certain he'll repeat his 28 goal performance, however, so for now I'm just counting him as a pricy 3rd liner.
