Versteeg will become very good in a short time...Kaberle is already very good. Personally,I really like this trade....both teams win.

Why does Chicago need Kaberle?

The Hawks have plenty of Off. dmen.

Don't like it from Toronto POV. While no doubt Kaberle is older, he is top pairing defenceman, i can't see Versteeg becomming top line forward. Knowing defenceman are more valuable than forwards, this doesn't make any sense. Toronto has plenty palyers with top 6 potencial, we need some with top line potencial (not "perhaps", but "very likely" to get there). And loosing best offensive defenceman would really hurt this team.

We won't just trade Kaberle for first good young player that comes along. He is most valuable trading asset to the team and maximazing his return would be very wise.

Well as amazing as a defense of

Keith-Seabrook
Campbell-Kaberle
Barker-Hjalmarsson

would be!

There is a thing called the salary cap!

Versteeg was great the first 2/3 of the season playing with Kane and/or Toews. Once that ended, around mid-February, his numbers took a nosedive. Can't see his numbers faring any better with Toronto's assortment of offensive genius.

Would you trade Seabrook for Ponikarovsky?

Bad comparison.

Kaberle is 31
Seabrook is 24

Poni is 29
Versteeg is 23

Very true but If Barker leaves then I think it would be a good trade.

Why would he leave? He just signed a contract.

So who is their goalie without Huet? The only way the Hawks get Kaberle is if Campbell gets hit by a bus. They have three 40pt+ guys on D. I think the Hawks are the last team that would be interested.

well, fist of all chicago doesnt need anymore offensive D's,and SALARY CAP. but overlooking those i think this is close to fair value, but chicago is gonna keep versteeg

Why would the Leafs do this? I guess it could be considered fair value if Versteeg's number's represent his play and not the players around him, but there's still the chance that he becomes a UFA, so i don't think the leafs would be too quick to pull the trigger on this.

I wouldnt do it cause Kaberle isnt even that good and we are already good on PMD but you want more for Kaberle than Versteeg.
