They need a backup to Mike Smith and Biron is probably too expensive for that role.

Lawton has said the team will try to acquire a backup through a trade.

He won't be after a while.

But on of you guys better pick him up. Detroit is going to need some goalie to trade for at the deadline.

alex auld is 100% available as a 1B/30 game guy. Asking price would be 3rd or 4th round pick.

1yr contract at 1M, about as fair a contract possible.

I think Biron will realize their is no starting job out there and will take less for one year. Same goes for Fernandez.......not many options left for those guys

I imagine Weekes would go back to the Devils even though he should not be in the NHL anymore

Dallas needs someone so Fernandez?..........they would be trade bait in the year if someone gets hurt

I wouldn't mind seeing Auld become the backup in Tampa, if the trade price is right. Brent Johnson would be good as well, he seems to be a solid 20-30 start guy.

I'd love to see Biron come in for cheap and split with Smith but I'm not holding my breath.

They could backup Dany as he would be cheaper and might need the cap space and Rask would spend one more year down.

Similar to Van Schneider vs Raycraft...although MGillis said whoever wins the backup postion stays and the other one to manitoba.

Auld would be a good back up to Smith in Tampa

McElhinney only got to start like once a month, on the second of back-to-back games (because of Keenan) and that's the main reason he was "sooooo horrible". He is a Calgary-native after all, so I'm sure he'll get another chance to prove himself to the team he grew up loving and cheering for.

As for Legace, he still had a winning record in the NHL, it was his attitude among younger players that was the reason St. Louis sent him packing. Any team who wants a veteran back-up goaltender could probably sign him at about $1.5M for one season.

Flyers most likely. Once Luongo re-ups with Canucks Schneider should be traded and my guess is Holmgren will be all over Schneider.

Guess they changed their plans, on the Lightning twitter the team has an offer to a backup goalie and a deal could be reached tomorrow.

Pens certainly could use a veteran backup that can start 20 games or so. MAF is often injured, inconsistent, and probably is better when he has a veteran around to push him.

Carolina will not sign a goalie. Leighton is on a one-way and did just fine last year. Even if he didnt do fine, we would still live with him

JVR, or Giroux? Schneider from what i have heard is a pretty good goalie prospect(elite prospect?), which is what the Flyers really need. They can take a short vet relief untill Schneider comes in. I rather not have them get Schneider since i'm a Pens fan loving they never get a goalie. Flyers have pretty good offense, and now pretty solid defense and can afford to lose one of them. It will hurt in the future a little, but they get their goalie.

Try Carle, possibly JVR (if they got desperate?)...no chance they move Giroux for a goalie prospect that isn't proven at the NHL level.
