The guy never gets to participate in the World Championships in recent years because he's competing deep into the playoffs. 4 years with the Wings and has been to the conference finals in 3 years and the finals in two. I'm sure he doesn't mind that. He won't make the team but it'll be a good experience for him nonetheless.

Well deserved, IMO one of the most underrated players in the league.

Lets not go so far as to say well deserved. Yzerman just wants a few role player types to consider. He is still a longshot from making the team but he brings a different element than alot of other guys. Also i wouldn't be surprised if Babcock asked for him.

Dan Cleary - the modern Rob Zamuner?

(Think 1998 Olympics)

Cleary was on the ice for the last shift of the game when the Wings won the Stanley Cup two years ago with the Pens pressuring the Wings right down to the last second. This shows that there is an implicit trust that Babcock has for Cleary when he is on the ice. Considering the fact he is the only Red Wing invited to Team Canada, then I suspect he has a phenomenal chance to make the team provided he produces at camp and has a good year next season.
It doesn't hurt that the GM is Steve Yzerman also
