09-10 lineup starting season

Aside from the possibiliy of a trade involving Sharp or Versteeg what do you think will be the lineup next seson?

Sharp-Toews-Kane
Ladd-Bolland-Hossa
Versteeg-Madden-Byfuglien

Our top 9 is pretty much set

But I have problems with our 4th

Eager is a definete. But we have 3 RW's in Burish, Kopecky and Brouwer who need a spot along with Fraser or Dowell at C. Brouwer's contract and Kopecky's contract sorta screw up what should be our 4th line. Eager-Burish-Kopecky. But I have a feeling they want Brouwer as our 4th line RW. I have a problem with this because Brouwer sucks (My opinion of course) and he cant kill penalties like guys like Fraser and Burish.

D core is pretty set with basically same thing we had last year.

Seabrook-Keith
Campbell-Hjalmarsson
Barker-Johnson/Hendry

Goaltending is also set

Huet
Crawford/Niemi

It's pretty awesome to say our only question is the fourth line... This isnt even taking into account someone having a amazing camp that could sneak in and play for the team.

Given the amount of forwards and dman on contract I dont see any roster room.

Very sad because I think this is our last chance to get Makarov over here. He probably will never come over.

If Sharp or Versteeg is traded (and not for another player, but a prospect and/or a pick), Beach would probably be the one to take their spot, I suppose.

Brouwer played PK until they traded for Pahlsson, and averaged more PK time than Sharp and Toews.

The complaint is that Brouwer played a lot on the PP and spent most of the season rotating w/ Kane, Sharp, and Toews and he still had only 10 goals.

It would make alot of sense if you guys moved a forward to shed some cap space.

Our lineup is stacked!!!
We could definitely give the Wings a run for the division championship this year.

I too am wondering about Makarov. I'd love to see him jump in on the roster and work his way up through the course of the season. Granted we can sign him for pennies.

Maybe TSN should stick to covering the Leafs.

No disrespect intended but if I were you guys I'd be very worried about your goal-tending. If Huet was so great he would have been able to take over the #1 spot last year given all the chances he had. Crawford may be an excellent prospect but can you honestly see him holding the fort if Huet goes into one of his "midget-goalie" moves-type mode? You have an excellent team now in front of the net and up front. Not so sure about your tenders???

If there's an achilles heel on this team, it will be goaltending. Every Hawks fan knows that or should know that.

Now that Versteeg has resigned, our projected lineup is even better than before. This eliminates the need to have Skille in the NHL, which could put the writing on the wall for him to leave next year via RFA or get traded. I'd put the lines something like this:

Sharp-Toews-Kane
Ladd-Bolland-Hossa
Byfuglien-Madden-Versteeg
Eager-Kopecky-Brouwer

scratches: Burish, Fraser

Keith-Seabrook
Campbell-Hjalmarsson
Barker-Johnson

Huet
Crawford

I like that line up a lot. Goaltending is the only thing there is cause to be worried about. Even when injuries hit, our forwards have great depth and can fill in. I am glad we don't have to see Skille play on the Hawks next year. I really would rather have Aliu up on the team instead of Brouwer, but that's not going to happen because of all the depth we have. Hopefully he'll play the year in Rockford and we can call him up at some point. We should trade a few of these depth players for a tough second pairing defender. We should get what we can for our depth players rather than having them rot on the bench and leave next off season anyways.

Sharp - Toews - Kane
Ladd - Bolland - Hossa
Byfuglien - Madden - Versteeg
Eager - Burish - Kopecky/Brouwer
Fraser/Brouwer

Seabrook - Keith
Campbell - Hammer
Barker - Johnson
Hendry

Huet
Crawford/Niemi

Three very solid two way lines and a fourth line that can forecheck and hit pretty well. If we can move Brouwer+Hendry/Johnson for a steady physical PK guy to play as our #6 D this team has no holes except for Huet according to some that aren't as sold on him as I am. It's the best team I've seen during my tenure as a Blackhawk fan.

Wow, it sucks to be Jack Skille... Wasting an early first rounder in the AHL...

What's the solution?

Yes, the omission is on purpose.

You think Ladd is going somewhere this season? I thought Ladd was one of our more underrated players this year. I would much rather him stick around than Byfuglien.

It wasn't really about Huet not taking advantage of his chances, but they were going pretty steady on splitting time between the two goalies until Khaby got really hot later in the season. I think Huet, with consistent starts, will be as capable a goaltender as we need next year.

I actually wanted them to pick up one of McKee, OK Tollefson, Eminger, or Gauthier on a low cost and one or two year deal to bring some hitting, shot blocking and toughness needed on the blueline.

They would then have an amazing top nine and excellent top six. Not to mention our exciting fourth of Kopecky, Burish, Eager, Fraser, Brouwer or camp surprise.

My dream would be Brendan Witt but no way he's moving to Chitown...

Just out of curiousity,, How long have you been a Hawk fan? I would say the 95 Hawks team was best I have seen.

Huet had the chance when Khabibulin went down. And for a while he looked amazing. Then he completely started bombing (Penguins game for example) and it was clear everyone couldn't wait for Khabby to come back. Then going into playoffs and thru 1st round Khabibulin was amazing.

For Skille to play consistant top caliber play! He has been inconsistant in his 2 yrs in Rockford. He was better this past year but he is not NHL ready.

I wont call him a bust until he gets a real chance at NHL. It will likely be or some other team during this season or next year.

Been a Hawks fan all my life, but a huge die hard know all the prospects since I was 14ish. Since I'm only 21, I got big into the Hawks around 03. Yea, that was a good time to start following this team.

Sharp-Toews-Kane
Byfuglien-Bolland-Hossa
Ladd-Madden-Versteeg
Eager-Kopecky-Burish

Seabrook-Keith
Campbell-Hjalmarsson
Barker-Hendry

Huet

id like to see versteeg moved for a cheap physical tough stay at home dman...and maybe a pick...
then replace him on the 3rd line with brouwer

then have eager as a mainstay on the 4th with kopecky burish and fraser rotating in the other 2 4th slots

i think if we can move versteeg for the tough d we hav ethe #1 seed in the west
