I am surprised no one asked about this over the teleconference, I would very much like to hear what is up with #4 and if they are thinking about retiring the number after Blake retires... If this organization is all about defining "what it means to be a King" then I think it would be a terrible gesture to retire #4 right in the middle of that.

yeah I just saw the #7 kinda lame, I was already getting used to the idea of seeing him as #4
and let's be accurate - that doesn't necessarily mean they'll retire Blake. we already know Dean is against retiring any more numbers, because he's already mentioned it seems ridiculous at this point to keep honoring player after player rather than winning championships. though lets face it, all of those deserved it, and all but one are in the HOF (and Rogie clearly deserves it). Blake? let him stew for about 10 years then maybe if he still seems. to me, they definitely should be retiring Butch Goring before they ever retire Blake's, which is where I got the Lombardi quote from.
I won't be surprised if Hickey wears #4 eventually but not necessarily this season. a lot of players manage to change their jersey # after the 1st or 2nd year, because they might have just been stuck with "whatever" before. and if he's listed at #37 I don't know if that's his choice. why not #17?
Hey guys, the second game of the season is against Sharks at home...a great opportunity for you to show how you feel towards Blakes jersey being in the rafters.
I guess he is/was a great player, but in the last three years, that I have been following the Kings, he has done all the wrong moves and displayed a disgraceful attitude on the ice, while collecting 6 million and having "C" on the front
Scuderi does not care what number he gets he's just happy getting 3.5 million for a one dimensional defensemen. Kings going to have a hard time scoring 5 on 5 with the defensemen we have. Greene, Scuderi, and O'Donnell are rock solid in the defensive zone but offer zero offensively. I think it would have been better to pay a little more and get Beauchemin. By the way J. Johnson -18 in 41 games on a pretty good defensive Kings team last year is scary. I know +/- does not tell the whole story but thats hard to ignore.

All three of those defenseman aren't expected to quarterback. I think it is pretty much entirely in the hands of Doughty and Johnson this season for the first time. Not to mention we have Hickey knocking on the door with a strong camp. I don't think we are going to struggle too much, our back end will get their points...

Yes we have 3 defensive defenseman, we are destined to get the 1st overall pick
