Lubo just can't catch a break. I kinda wish we had kept him, I wouldn't undo the trade, but it was a bad day to be a Kings fan just because of how loved he was by the fanbase and how much he wanted to stay. It was a pretty bad way for it to go down. I hope the Oilers keep him for the long haul and he gets the security he deserves.

No worries, most of us are quite content to keep him. The only reason his name comes up is because of the depth of offensive Dmen on the Oilers.
for some reason, i knew the stoll/greene combo would be missed in edmonton, those are two players that can add so much all over the ice in many situations..
as an edmonton fan i was very unhappy with that deal back then.. and still am..
anyway, if there would be anyway to unload souray i'd look there first and keep visnovsky
He's the teams best player. If you look at the teams performance last year before Visnovsky got injured, and after he got injured it's stunning. Before he went down to injury the Oilers were 25-21-3 and tied for 6th in the west (granted it was a 5 way tie). After that the team went 13-14-6, and finished 6 points out of the playoffs.
Hell, look at the impact his loss had on Hemsky. Before Lubo went down, 39gp-16g-27a-43p (over 82 games 34 goals, and 90 points). After Lubo's injury, 33gp-7g-16a-23p (82 games, 17 goals, 57 points).

that's significant..
does that come from powerplay time ? or just in general. i didn't get to see too much oiler hockey last year, was visnovsky on the ice to work with hemsky most of the time (kinda like a 5 man unit).. or did they just have a nice chemistry from breakout to the offensive zone
I like Lubo and his game, but I don't care for his size or his salary. The Oiler's have some glaring needs, and one of the 4 offensive dmen will probably be shipped out to help address these needs. Souray, no chance in my mind, he's big, he's strong, and he's the Oiler's leader. Gilbert, maybe, I like his contract, I like his size, even if he isn't physical, and I like that he's fairly young. Grebs, probably has the lowest value of the 3, no contract for next year, and is a wild card. That brings us to Vish, he's the best puck mover on the team, he's the fastest dman on the team, has a cannon from the point, but he's small, expensive, and not young anymore, also, he should have some value to a team that needs a puck moving, offensive dman. In the right deal, I would move Vish, but it better be for pieces that Oilers desperately need (Big, shut down dman, and a PK specialist for up front).
If we traded Lubo or Souray, we'd without a doubt be expecting the following:
A: A big physical LW who's easily good for 30+ goals. The kind that makes the first line on almost every team in the league. B: A big physical 2nd line RW who's scored 25+ goals on several occasions(with a cap hit of less than 4M, a "can't miss" prospect and a first rounder. C: 2 2nd line forwards. One must have considerable size and have a physical aspect to his game. Both must have established reputations.(No 1-trick ponies) And a very good prospect.
Don't worry, Oilers fans would murder Tambo if he traded Lubo for Stall unless it's the Staal on the Hurricanes.
I wouldn't... and I am an Oiler fan. The Oilers are in dire need of defensemen that actually defend; I am not impressed with Visnovsky. Sure he is a good skater, and has a shot, and can pass, but he is not great defensively. Edmonton under Lowe (and his illusion of the new NHL) became the inverted world of the hockey world - where a defenseman's value was judged by how much he can score. Staal for Visnovsky... in a heart beat. Heck, I am hoping Tambellini can make a trade with Ottawa - Visnovsky for Volchenkov.
Add to the equation the cap hit Visnovsky carries, and it is a no brainer.
Souray over Visnovsky any day of the week - in last nights game I watched Visnovsky getting run over by Morrow, and I watched Souray manhandle an opposing player. Plus Souray has to be in line for the Captaincy.

Volchenkov and Komisarek have what in common? Their play is very missleading. Just that they hit everything that moves in their end doesn't mean that they're good defensively.
