Depending on the terms, I like it.

He's a 20/20 type of player and he has a wicked shot if he can get it off.

I wanted to trade for him last year.

I like Kotalik. Great shot, will get 20G/20-25 A..

Kinda makes me think Zherdev is gone though.. as much as I didn't believe Brooks' at all..

need to hear the terms...guy is a 20/20 guy..anything more than 2-3 mil is absurd. and i think this is a precursor to a trade...we have too many guys like this.

If its $2.5 mill or less, great. If its over $3.5 mill, Sather screwed up. Anything in between is a toss up.

31 years old and made $2.3MM last year. Over a week past the open of free agency my guess is he isn't getting much, if any, of a raise. I've got the heeby jeebies on this one.

Agree with Inferno, sounds like Slats is putting trade pieces together.

Funny note: Edmonton and two guys names "Ales" on their team last season.

Zherdev > Kotalik

His shot aside, he's completely mediocre.

PP Improves with him
Shootouts improve with him
Scorer when wants to be

Cheaper then Z, but not overall better skilled. I'll take it if this leads to us getting a center

Hahahaha. I'm on to this strategy of yours, BN...

It all comes down to the terms. Like I said in the very beginning, I'm all about value in this UFA class.

Well, he's excellent in the shootout and played well with Drury, have to imagine he'd be on Drury's wing.

But if this means no more Zherdev... definitely not an adequate replacement for him.

He's pretty useless without a playmaker, too. Not like we have any of those, either.

Very true. If this is a precursor to a trade and leaves the overall talent quotient higher, great. If it's simply a spiteful replacement for Zherdev, I'm gonna be pissed.

I've always liked Kotalik. Under 3 mil will be a good signing. He hopefully can help the PP.

And I don't think this means Zherdev is gone, we need scoring depth. Replacing Zherdev with Kotalik doesn't add scoring depth.
