How will the East go down?

Here is my predictions. Call them optimistic or whatever. I believe it is still in the Leafs reach. for second.

1. Tampa Bay - 108 PTS - Will win the rest of their games
2. Toronto - 103 PTS - Will win the rest of their games
3. Jersey - 102 PTS - Will win the rest of their games
4. Boston - 103 PTS - Will beat Carolina and Wash. and lose last two to Jersey
5. Ottawa - 102 PTS - Will lose in last game to Leafs falling one point short
6. Philly - 100 PTS - Will only win one more against the Islanders
7. Montreal - 97 PTS - Will win the rest of their games
8. Islanders - 86 PTS - Will lose the rest of their games

I am not sure who would get second or fourth if Toronto and Boston finished tied for points does any one know.

So you're saying even though the Isles would lose the rest of their games, the Sabres would not get the three points to get 8th?

Not that I agree with this order, but there is a real shot that so many teams will finish with 100 pts. You'd think that finishing with 100 pts would help make a team a clear cut favourite....

It could go so many different ways. I think the leafs hopes are in Jersey's hands. They finish the season with two against Boston. GO DEVILS GO.

A hundred points isn't a big deal anymore, with all the OTL points handed out. 100 points isn't what it used to be.

86 should be enough to just hold Buffalo off. I really don't want the Knives to make the playoffs. They scare me as much as Tampa.

x-Tampa Bay 108pts.
x-Boston 104 pts.
x-Philadephia 102 pts.
Ottawa 103 pts.
Toronto 101 pts.
New Jersey 100 pts.
Montreal 94 pts.
NY Isles 89 pts.
Buffalo 88 pts.

I feel bad for Buffalo fans, I really want the Sabres to make it this year! They will for sure next season though and have a really bright future.

its so crazy there the only set maches seem to be Tampa Bay vs NYI/Buffalo

You can take any combination of the the other 6 and match them up how you want and there is most likely a way they can end up playing eachother.

I have a question could Buffalo sign Thomas Vanek and use him to try and push into the playoffs?

Hope you're right. There's nothing I would like more than having Montreal - Boston and Ottawa - Toronto match up in the 1st round. Plus a series involving Buffalo and Tampa would be much better than with the Isles.

The East playoffs are going to be flat out amazing this year. I mean three of the potential matchups are all between division rivals.

Ottawa vs. Toronto -- Anyone remember the playoff series these
two had a few years ago? The battle of
Ontario starts next week.

Boston vs. Habs -- Battle of two great goaltenders in Raycroft &
Theodore. Boston has the big man in
Thornton and the Habs having the amazing
Calder candidate in Michael Ryder.

Flyers vs. Devils -- These two teams hate each other. The fans
hate each other. Call me a homer but with
hearing Stevens is not near 100% and no
guarantee he will be there by the playoffs,
the Flyers will beat the Devils this year. And
what's funny is, the Devil fans know this.

This is the same reason I want to face the Devils. That's why I'm rooting for them to beat the Rangers and move into a tie with Ottawa.

Now there's a good prediction... thats who its going to be.. I don't know about the ammount of points being dead on.. but the way you've put the standings are exactly how its going to be.

I don't think Vanek would make much of a difference at this point. It's not like they're struggling as a team or not scoring goals. The Sabres have the capability to run the table...it's just unfortunate that their destiny is in the hands of other teams.

I watched a bit of that game last night, and the Sabres were all over the Jackets. Wave after wave, it really looks like their offensive balance is great. Solid goaltending to boot, and they are probably seen as more dangerous than the Isles at this point. Well, maybe to everyone but Tampa Bay that is, given the struggles the Bolts have had against the Isles. Perhaps Tampa is rooting for Buffalo too?

The East is obviously a real crap shoot. It's funny how Boston, Philly, Toronto and Ottawa fans all seem to be hoping they face the Debs because of Stevens absence. Probably a case of being careful what you wish for...

Man...BOS/MTL, PHI/NJD,TOR/OTT would be three great series, and that's just in the East.

We hate you, sure. But know that you'll beat us? Give us a break. That's going a little far. We have faith in our team come the playoffs, because we know that every player in the lineup steps it up come the postseason. Not to mention the one other thing that no one else has - Martin Brodeur. Only Ed Belfour comes close in terms of playoff experience and proof of being a playoff performer.
