any update on Sawada's thumb injury? I haven't heard anything other than he injured it in a fight.

Lukowich to the Texas Stars....How is this even possible? Playing on the Stars AHL team but under contract from another pro team.

The same way our guys played on other AHL teams last season? Obviously not under the same situation but the same none the less.

Since we didn't have an AHL team last year i could see the logic in it...However Vancover and Dallas both have AHL teams....Confusing!

The AHL has a veteran limit, and Vancouver could be at that limit considering the number of defensemen they have on one-way contracts.

I posted some info on earlier pages regarding the veteran limit.

Texas had space for one veteran before Hutchinson was reassigned. At this point, (well, when Peters is healthy), Texas will have to bench a veteran or Dallas will have to trade one to another team.

Jordie Benn has been assigned to the Allen Americans.

Jordie and Jamie can room together now! [EDIT: For the non-Texans, Allen is north of Dallas and minutes from Frisco where the Stars practice.]

Guillaume Monast is going to Idaho.

Texas opens the season with a home and home against the San Antonio Rampage tonight. They'll be in SA @ 7 PM.

Idaho Steelheads start camp on Sunday, and their season starts October 16th.

Oh yeah I should've mentioned the opening day AHL rosters don't mean much as they change about every day.

I figured that, but Wandell practiced with the team again today. They're not going to have him miss a game opportunity and then not play him tomorrow.

Trying this from memory, and it's late:

Korostin-Lindgren-Sceviour
Wathier-Gagnon-Rollo
??? -Morin-Beaudoin
Wilson

I can't remember the rest of the players, but I know Wilson played. Gagnon's line started the game. I kinda think they were the checking line (like Tip use to start the checkers on the road), but they were using Gagnon quite a bit. He was getting PP time, and he was even one of the guys on the ice late to try and tie the game.

Just based on listening to the broadcast, Morin sounded like he played pretty well on the PK. Wathier sounded like he just kept taking big hits (not shocking that he’s always hurt). Wilson didn't play a ton, but he was jumping in to defend teammates on a regular basis.

Vishnevskiy-Fortunus
Jancevski-Stafford
Ludwig-Hutchinson

Stafford and Jancevski started the game. IIRC, Hutchinson and Stafford started most of the PP's which seems like it defeats the purpose of Vishnevskiy playing in Austin.

The last minute of the game, with Krahn on the bench and Texas on a PP, the Stars went with 3 defenders and 3 forwards. I remember Gagnon, Lindgren, Hutchinson and Vishnevskiy being on the ice, but I'm not sure on the other 2.

Ladies and gentlemen boys and girls from left to right on your monitor I have a feeling tonight's going to be historic, dare I say epic, ..... even a first. The first puck will drop on the historic home opener of Texas as they fight their fiery in state rival for their epic first win.

What? There's more? Yes! Epic rock band Wilco to grace Central Texas for the epic/historic/first rock concert at the arena.

Inside joke FAIL!!!

This game was amazing. The crowd was awesome, 6227 out of 6800 available seats. They were loud and proud. Our line changes for some reason always came at terrible times and our offense was often left with no point option b/c of it. OT was awesome with the finish coming with 3 seconds left by Rallo. I took a video of the 3 stars but I doubt anybody really wants to see that. I'll do my best to take a god vid next game. OH and our PP was ****ing terrible.
