Any money left for Dandenault?

I think he could still be a great part of this team. He's versatile and before he got injured last year was probably playing better than Komi and Hammer.

He'd be cheap too. Already stated he wants to stay.

I think getting Mara was the end of Dandy and Cube in Montreal. We have a solid top 6 and O'byrne, Weber and Subban waiting if any injuries occur. Dandy for real cheap, like .500 to 1 wouldnt be bad, depending on what we sign the rfas to

Anyone who can skate well, play forward & defence and would stay in the play with a broken arm deserves a contract. I'd bring him back.

Awards:
We have 6 NHL D-men plus O'Byrne and Weber for spot duty. It makes no sense to bring him back.

The guy was average-to-bad for the other 2.5 years of his contract, does nobody else remember this?

Are we gonna start understanding that this summer was a big clean-up ? Yes, no, maybe ? Stop looking at the past.... it's over and get over it.

Well, I'd say there is little/no need for whatever "leadership"/"experience" that comes with winning the Cup. And there's already such a logjam up front that D'Ago doesn't even have a permanent spot. And he's probably not going to come back on 7th d-man money (say, slightly more than league minimum).

I really don't see the merit in persuing him as an option.

exactly doesn't make sense when you look at our D.If we sign him as a forward,I have nothing against Dandenault but I would prefer signing Kostopoulos.Metropolit will be doing the Dandenault job for next season

Unless he learns how to make a breakout pass instead of constantly flicking the puck to center ice, I don't want him anywhere near our Defense.

At this point: no.

Mara is a better D than what I expect Gainey to get with the money he had left. The guy took a paycut at 1.95M$ to play with the Rangers. I guess he got somewhat the same amount for one year. That leaves Gainey with 2M$ to play with, and he won't spend it all. I expect a grinder to be signed now. Moen? The guy was making bellow 1M$ last season. I guess he could come here for just a little above 1.2 M$. If not, then bring Kostopoulos back.

Anybody have news on Cube?

From the looks of it, he may be done as an NHL regular.

I would've said yes to Dandeneault before the Mara signing if it was for under 1 mil, but now it would just be another guy inhaling press box hot dogs and beer.

Only if the injury he couldn't heal because he came back to fast during last playoffs is preventing him from getting his game where it was. Keep in mind that despite his height, the little guy has a massive 201 lbs. Mara, which is 8 inches taller his only heavier by 10 lbs. The only problem with Bouillon is in fact his reach.

With 4 inches, the guy would be an easy top 3 in the NHL.

I wouldn't take Dandy back if he came back for just free sticks and no contract.

Don't get me wrong....Dandy was good for us and he played wherever we needed him....but there is no reason for the Habs to attempt to make room for a no-skilled player like Dandy when we have guys like Patches, Dags, Chips, Weber and O'Byrne waiting in the wings.

I agree with this. Cammelleri knows him so it might help ease the introduction procedure. Gomez is familiar with Gionta and Mara already. Spacek should be familiar with Hamrlik. Gill has Laraque. Camm should have Kosto.

Out of all the guys that left, the one guy I want to return the most is Dandy. The guy is waiting for Gainey to call him, rejecting other offers. The guy's heart is with the Habs, unfortunately he's just lacking in skill.

Rather give a young guy a chance. Not because dandy wasn't versatile and all, but he's not that special. We're making posts about a what, 8th-9th d-man and 16th forward for us at this point in time. He's not bad, but we can get better role playing from young guys.
