Some people's prediction were pretty accurate for our last 2 signings.

So Plekanec rights to Vancouver and then we pick up.....Sundin?

Let's go boys, how about another 10 threads of Sundin all over again?

Exactly, if this is the case that Pleks is rumored out of MTL, then why would Bob let Saku leave? He would of been the BEST 2nd center.

If true they better replace him with someone that can provide offense. If the Kosts brothers or whoever is on that line doesn't produce offense. We'll be stuck with one scoring line, and 3 grinding lines. As it is now I wish the Habs can add one more player with offensive punch. I think were ok on Defense. Just better hope Price steps up to the plate this year.

PS: Oh yeah, Sundin. I want nothing to do with that bum.

Makes no sense for the Sharks, they need a 4th line center not Plekanec.

Ideally, you want a guy like Mike Fisher in that spot; sure, he's overpaid, but you can count on him to put up similar numbers and play hard in his own end.
that's way wrong....when pleky was drafted, he was slated to become a 3rd line checking center with limited offensive ability. His numbers exploded for 1 year and a half and is now a 2nd line centerman but he didnt just forget how to play defense just like that.

To say that vancouver are interested in Plekanec doesn't mean via a trade . It could be also via a RFA offer sheet .

Via a trade , i would be curious to see the value of Plekanec + Sergei Kostitsyn . With D'Agostini and Maxpac around , the Habs will survive without Sergei .

Because Bob wanted a fresh start. It can't be a new era when the captain of 10 years is still there.

Kesler, Burrows, Sedins, Hodgson, Schroeder, Luongo, Edler are no goes
Raymond could be possible though, but canucks have a logjam on top 9 players so this is just eklund trying to get more site hits again

3.7% correct for a reason

Good topic for discussion, but this rumor has no legs. It doesn't make sense for either team(s).
Hasn't Eklund lost all credibility yet?

I didn't know you were the 'Nucks GM.

BTW we should waive Hammer(5 mill) and trade Plekanec for Bieksa, O'Brien + a pick.

he fits in with the size and grit on lines 3 and 4...it means one of metropolit, chipchura or maybe stewart (highly doubt it, BG won't leave moen alone to do all the fighting)

are probably waived or traded

Erm, we'd still need a 2nd line centre then...

I'd be all for trading Plekanec actually - the guy always pulls disappearing acts in the clutch. He's too easily thrown off his game. And no amount of self-loathing on his part seems to change things.

Proposal: Plekanec to stay as a placeholder for Lecavalier (anti-Eklund rumor thread)

Instead of starting a thread every time Eklund's automatic generator creates one... Create a suggested trade thread, it would make more sense (and even more likely to happen).

Plekenec is here to stay, imho. Until we get a chance once again to Lecavalier.

The foundation of my statement is that he was apparently one of the players that Lawton had mentioned to Toronto (that would have been part of the trade with Montreal).

Therefore Tamba Bay had interest in him (and its lower salaray obviously), and we should keep him as a trade bait for later on (when Tamba Bay can't pay his players).

Also Plekanec had a subpar year... and should bounce back this year... so I think that his value will only raise. So we should keep him meanwhile.

I think you are right for a while....

But nothing prevents us to strive for Lecavalier down the road.

We need two very strong centers if we want to be THE team.

In 93, when we won the cup, we had Damphousse and Muller (third one was Lebeau)

While that would be nice, I don't know how realistic it would be to have $15 million in cap space tied up in two players.

Agreed.......and four strong wingers, four strong defencemen and one strong goalie.

At $7.5M each that's $75M.

Add another 3 guys at 1.5M each, and 10 guys averaging $850K, it all comes to a total of $88M.

No problem.
