OUPS ... Our defensemen are all shooting left

Our top 6 is all composed of left handed defensemen:
Markov
Spacek
Hamrlik
Gill
Gorges
Mara

Is it a problem? Should we be concerned? Will it affect our transition game?
Who can play on the right side? I know Gorges did well with Markov but what about the others?

At least they CAN shoot unlike our top right-handed defenceman last year.

Gorges usually plays right, Hamrlik can do it too apparantly. I hope Mara can. Our LD are probably Markov, Hamrlik and Gill.

The 3 bubble guys Weber, O'Byrne, and Subban are Right Handed shots.

Now that we've filled the back end, which of the Ds penciled in as starter should feel the heat at training camp if one of the bubble guys impresses?

Doesn't matter. They all know how to put the puck off the boards. It only matters up front for the PP. But that was solved with Gionta.

The 2006-2007 Ducks didn't seem to worry about it since only their 6th defencemen (DiPenta and Jackman) were righties...

Last year, Toronto iced a team in a game, or two that only shot right.

Maybe Avtsin should give them some tips as far as shooting from both sides.

IMO it is a problem.. I know these guys are NHLers but it's still tougher playing on your off side.

The only lefty TOP6 we have this year are Kaberle and Beauchemin. For a while it seemed like we'd have none.

We'll happily give you Jeff Finger or Mike Van Ryn to solve your problem. I mean what are division rivals for?

And oddly enough, the next 4 in line (O'Byrne, Weber, Subban and Carle) all shoot right.

There is 1 HUGE difference there however.

There are more lefties than righties. A guy like Gorges have no problem playing on the right side simply because... he's used to it. Most lefties will have play on the right side here and there when they were young kids.

While a right handed Defenseman is a hot commodity you simply dont play on the left side...
________

I'm concerned about not having righties, but i would be ABSOLUTLY afraid to have no lefties, it's a whole different problem imo.

Like in most NHL teams... and like our forwards. Sadly.
