Francois Gagnon and the Kostitsyns

I'm bringing this up because I find it funny.

A couple of weeks after the Habs were eliminated, I heard Gagnon on team 990 perform his usual hatchet job on a Habs player. This time it was two players. The Kostitsyn brothers.

I'm hoping someone heard his rant besides myself. He went out on a limb and declared that the brothers were a joke and that he had it from people high in management that they were gone by the summer. He claimed that they were a cancer on the team and that they didn't care about anything but money, cars & women.

Now for the part that I find funny.

Higgins
Komisarek
Dandenault
Bouillon
Brisebois
Tanguay
Kostopolous
Koivu
Kovalev
Lang
(Did I forget anyone?)
Oh yes Schneider

Are all gone. But the brothers are still here. I know the summer is still young but I think there's a lesson here. Don't trust sports journalists with axes to grind. God, I hope Marinaro or P.J. Stock taped the conversation and will play it back to Gagnon next time he goes on a crusade to crucify a Habs player.

Nothing special about this post. I just had to get it off my chest.

This was discussed at the end of the season.

Gagnon always had a thing for the Kost broz, he's probably just jealous of Andrei's hair and Sergei's boyish look.

Don't get your hopes up to high .... it's still early in the summer and they can find their A$$ elsewhere by the time September rolls around.

I don't know if it's possible, but Francois Gagnon's teeth are actually even yellower on the radio.

We've seen these hatchet jobs by Gagnon before, his mysterious vanishing Kovalev tapes.

I hope they don't run the Kostitsyns out of town. Our scoring depth depends on both of them having productive seasons.

Giving up on the Kostitsyns at this point in time would be a fabulous idea in the bizzaro world.

And where do you think Gagnon lives?

It's funny I remember where I was when I heard that rant. I was in my car, parking in front of Dawson College, on my way to meet a prospective partner. I can remember thinking: this guy is full of dog poop. And I can remember saying to myself (and not really believing it it) wouldn't it be funny if gainey let go of all his UFAs and kept the bros.

Would that shut this guy up? Unfortunately, I was right for once with my answer. My answer was nothing will ever embarrass Gagnon.

I used to like Gagnon, but he's been slowly floating towards Rejean Tremblay territory. He's just annoying now. It seems to have coincided with his move to RDS too...

Gagnon is a major ******.

He likes to stir up **** like the Kovalev vs. Koïvu thing.

I don't like Gagnon all that much since a few months. I'm not sure it's that bad with the bros. They looks like they are enjoying themselves when things are going well. Last year, we all know what happened so it's a whole different story, but IMO, it will turn out alright with them. We now have a really different team and it's time for everyone to start from scratch. I wouldn't trade them now because the potential is still there, and now that we have better players up front, we have to try them with the Kostitsyns...

I wouldn't be surprised to see Andrei with Gomez and Gionta. While not that tall, he's big and can hit hard...he's also a sniper and can set up plays...I think it would be a perfect match!

As for Sergei, I'm not sure where he'll fit in, but he's a gifted puck distributor and we need players like that!

Onice provided you with a link, but one wasn't needed. He said similar things on more than one occasion.

I think Gagnon is using reverse psychology to help motivate the kosty brothers. It's obvious he's being cruel to be kind

John Lu is the only one that is a true journalist. The rest of them just publish hockey smut.

John Lu and Renaud Lavoie from the french side of the Habs are pretty much the only 2 I trust in Montreal

Another funny thing is that now he has this article where he says "Now that Koivu is gone, who are you going to blame?"

So sounds likes he likes to blame players himself.

I do find it a little ironic that with all the supposed off-ice issues last year, the only 3 figures who were actually publicly connected to anything "scandalous" are still around.

Ya but John Lu doesn't know anything. I always feel after listening to him that I should have done something else.
