Montreal is the best fit to win the cup!

According to the interviews with Travis Moen and Paul Mara, they stated that that Montreal is their best chance and fit to win the cup this season.

Now I don`t think that it`s 100% true and I think they are being politically correct in this case, but if you think about it, Gomez opened the door and both Cammalleri and Gionta helped others choices to sign here.

If I had told any of after the sweep to the Bruins that next season we will start with:

Gomez
Cammalleri
Gionta
Gill
Spacek
Moen
Mara

You would of all laughed at me! I guess playing for Montreal and in Montreal is better than we thought for UFA`s

I can`t wait for training camp to start in September...

;-)

Don't wanna burst your bubble, but the pens are going for the cup next year just as strongly as they did this year. depending on how boston perform we might be the better choice in the northeast but definitly not the first contender in the ligue....

Tampa and Carolina never were number 1 contender, but they won the cup. As long as the players are getting along in the locker room, show up every game and play the system, we'll have a good chance to win the cup. As soon as you make the playoffs, you have a chance to win it.

Boston was on cloud 9 last year. In no way shape or form they will keep this up. They are a good team but so is 20 teams out there. As for the the Pens, you are right. They are contenders and it's mainly cause of Crosby and Malkin duo. Staal complete the trio down the middle. Good goaltending. Not sure about their defence but that was a ? last year too so yes they are contenders.

You know I wouldn't doubt that the new training facility in Brossard had something to do with some players signing here.

Yeah heard it was the best in the league at the moment. (wasnt good enough for Vincent tho )

I'm not saying we can't come out strong and get to the final like Carolina or Tampa did, I was just stating that some other teams are in a better position to win the cup !

Can't wait to see what's going to happen ! I'm definitly happy with the changes, I think we all needed some freash air !!

from what I understood, they actually said that montreal was THEIR best option for the cup, actually meaning for example if mara received offers only from colombus nyi and mtl he thought that montreal had the better chance and thats why he signed here.

I heard Mara saying it, but his sentence was: "From the teams that made me an offer, I though that Montreal had the best chances to win the cup."

So let's guess. He got offers from Toronto, Phoenix and Tampa Bay?

I still feel we're missing another top 6 impact player. I'm afraid the young guys are not really ready for playoff war.

That could always be rectified in Feb at the trade deadline.

Exactly. Still its good to heard, especially that he came here to win something, not necessarely float and earn a paycheque.

Pacioretty - Gomez - Gionta
Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Cammalleri
Latendresse - Lapierre - Moen
Stewart - Chipchura - D'Agostini / BGL

Markov - Mara
Gill - Spacek
Hamrlik - Gorges

-------------------------------------

we know our main guys will produce points (cammy, gomer, gio) Our success will depend on how will our youngins progress, guys like pleks, ak46, patches, will all need better years. Our defence is great!

From Habs Inside/Out

Two new unrestricted free-agent signings – defenceman Paul Mara and forward Travis Moen – see the Canadiens as a way for them to challenge for the Stanley Cup. Both expressed eagerness yesterday to get to Montreal to get started. The two are the latest acquisitions of GM Bob Gainey, who has brought in seven and cut adrift 10 in less than two weeks, fully refacing the Canadiens for the 2009-10 season.

Boston will still be a contender in the east. Pittsburgh too but secondary scoring could become a problem for them down the road.

On the team they offered them a contract. The other teams was worst, thats it.

Are you sure your first line can even lift the cup?

As long as Komisarek doesn't bobble it, we'll be fine.

I do like most of your line-up, however I beleive you are missing a IMO that will play an important role on our team next year. Sergei Kostitsyn.
Last year he had what a lot of players have and that's the sophmore jinx, see Price as I beleive that's what it was for him too, with pretty much a fresh locker room and a solid structure with JM at the helm watch for Sergei to really come into his next year and prove to us that the promise he displayed his first year in was no fluke.
