Obviously it being Corey it's likely a Caps source, but it would be nice to see some clarification just to be certain (if he hasn't already posted more details).
Agree, it is not very detailed, but given Corey M has been working on this for the last week, I assumed it was someone with the Caps.

a little more in his blog

I didn't think he was invited this past summer; I think he participated in 2008.

I'm pretty sure he was invited this year too but didn't participate due to injury IIRC.

Thanks, that would make sense; I was going to ask you if he was injured this summer as that would explain why I don't recall an invite/attendance

anyway, doesn't change the main thrust of the discussion about watching players regardless of participation in dev. camp in August

I like the potential of this team. My guess a couple of the seemingly off the wall picks (like Lashoff and Walker) are probably sure bets for the team unless their play goes down the tubes. Kind of like Sean Zimmerman from a couple of years ago.

i guess there are a few surprises here for me, no mitch wahl , adam comrie, and no zach budish. i know budish isnt tearing it up, but his size would be a huge asset here. dont know who wahl pissed off, but yikes does that look bad. not having comrie here is a massive mistake imo.

on the positive side, nice story for luke walker. this kid wasnt on my radar, probably because the whl has him listed from canada. kid has nice size and can score.

how about zucker? the only 2010 draft eligible forward invited, his stock is going to rise big time. surprised etem didnt get a look either.

merrill and faulk the only 2010 draft eligible dmen invited, besides the man beast known as cam fowler, watch their stock rise even more now because of this. i guess you can say ramage is also 2010 draft eligible , but he went undrafted last year. amazing to see how far he has come in a year, could go high this june.

overall a solid squad, no comrie is a mistake, but the defense is still amazing as is the goaltending, but offensively we arent elite. team should contend for a medal as usual, just dont know what color we will be fighting for.

Yeah I think he had a knee injury (that also kept him out of NHL camp) so that's why if you look at the USA Hockey roster now from the evaluation camp he's not on there since he didn't participate, but if you go back through this thread or internet searches, he was originally invited.

But yes, point stands. I'm really glad that USA Hockey continued to evaluate a large group of players and didn't stand pat with those they chose over summer.

I don't get all the love for Mitch Wahl. I mean, I'm rooting for the guy probably more than most (other than Flames fans) since he's from California, but he was a marginal prospect for the team at best.

He wasn't good by any stretch of the imagination in last years tournament and he obviously didn't do anything to wow the staff at the evaluation camp in August. Unfortunately for him, it seems he let too many of his chances pass him by for this team.

Wahl didn't do much in last year's tournament, was released early from this year's camp, and doesn't have Drayson Bowman to ride shotgun with this go around. I'm glad he wasn't given a free pass as an eligable returnee. As for Comrie, he has been very average this year. Better options are available, such as Lashoff who is actually having a very good season and has really improved his stock as a prospect.

Thanks, I looked quickly; I knew about some injuries this summer, but had forgotten about his.

about the draft eligibility post:

dmen: Fowler is also 2010 draft, eligible for the first time

Any guesses on who'll get the captaincy? Blais seems to really like Kristo.

i agree, but wahl is still putting up solid numbers in the dub, and i know he was underwhelming last year, but he still is atop prospect. as for comrie, how is lashoff having a better year? i am not so sure about that. comrie is much better offensively, and yes he has had some rough +/- games, but comrie is better overall imo. i just feel that his shot from the point would be very nice to have on the power play.

Wow. And here I thought D'Amigo was the Leafs longshot and Ryan was the shoe-in.

It was a numbers game for Wahl. A lot of things conspired against him to keep him off the team. Bottomline: He's not a differance maker. The U.S. is going to have plent of firepower on the blueline without Comrie, who is a bit of a project. Again, i'm not sure he would be that much of a differance maker.

Probably Carlson. He's going to be the big stud the team is built around.

Wow tyler johnson is pretty good to play two positions at the same time. Lol.

Wondering if Kristo will be in the top 6 rather than 4th line?

My bad. Fixed. I think Kristo can occupy multiple roles. My list was more a grouping of players than lines anyway.

Yea a player that been on the team two years in a row.
Leading his team in points.
Outscoring Kyle Beach.
Yet he can make the almighty USA roster.

I guess his point is Team Canada almost always has its returnees back on its team. Not sure I can agree with leaving Wahl off. He would have been a strong player for the US this year

I though McColgan would get a chance but then that would mean the USA brass wouldn't be able to bring a guy like Zucker

Honestly USA seems like a real strong team this year, they could make a push to canada considering the amount of talent canada does NOT have coming.

Still Canada seems to have its depth covered quite deeply.
