Ducks are solid enough as it is without him.

The biggest problem with him returning to Anaheim is roster space and lack of an ahl affiliate.

Not many fans would want to bring him back, but I would if he can't find a job anywhere else and willing to accept 1 year 900k or so. Most fans would prefer we get Grier even if it costs 1.5 million.

Right now we have too many depth forwards, but besides Marchant they don't have much experience.

You should probably mention in the title that it's Rob Niedermyer and not Scott

He had two bad seasons. The cup team was amazing. Rob was a great 3rd line forward.

As to the news, I saw this coming when free agency hit. Everyone else did as well.

He was a decent 3rd line forward. Today, he is a slow, lazy player who deserves to be on the 4th line. I can't stand him!

That title is worrying as a Ducks fan. Could we have an amendment to show it's Rob

From 2003-2007 Rob was one of the team's best playoff performers, and a pretty integral part of every shred of success the Ducks had over that time.

Since then he's definitely lost a step, and he never was a very smart hockey player. I don't want him back but I'm glad we had him.

I thought it was about Scott. Had to read the op to even remember there's two of them.

I thought it was pretty obvious he was talking about Rob. Considering Scott has a contract and Rob doesn't.

Grier @ 1.5 is waaaaaaaaaaay too much. 3 seasons ago, maybe. But now, doubtful. He'll MAYBE get 1 Mil.

Mike Grier is the Sharks Rob Niedermayer. Was pretty good and worth the money back in the day, but not anymore.

He's in the same boat as a lot of other defensive forwards (not named Sammy Pahlsson, apparently). Not enough money to go around.

Doing the math, it seemed fairly obvious that he wouldn't be returning to Anaheim, unless he came cheaply. Nevertheless, he had a noteworthy career for the Ducks, playing a big part of the 2003 and 2007 teams. If he's truly gone, I wish him all the best.
