I have never heard anything like that before. By all accounts Lisin is a very quiet and shy kid.

I don't know if Lisin scored some dudes wife or what but he was never given a fair shake here. It would be painful but I hope he ends up making the organization look stupid! Of course if that happens then we'll have to here all the retarded face saving comments. "Oh well he wasn't going to do that here, the trade really shook him up" and so on.

Yes, I do remember that being posted by a Rampage fan. Nothing was ever mentioned after that. Regardless, I don't think Enver's issue is his character. The players seemed to love him. Maybe they know something management doesn't.

Why does everyone assume that Lisin would have signed the same contract with Phoenix that the Rangers offered him.

For all we know he could have been asking for a 1 year $1M one-way contract.

I don't think it's that offbase to think that maybe Lisin lowered his contract demands because he was now a member of the Rangers organization and/or maybe his dream of playing in the NHL was slightly less secure after seeing that a team would trade him before meeting his contract demands.

Thinking about it... we couldn't have really lost.

Maloney must really like Korpikoski.
Maloney loves Korpikoski. DM was considering taking Korpikoski at #6 if Montoya was not there. The Rangers traded up in the draft to select Korpikoski.

True but even if it was 1 million per year on a 1 way contract, I'd still be face palming. I think Enver is worth that anyway but on a goal starved team like the Yotes, it's a no brainer. I guess when you combine overall indifference to Lisin by the organization and an apparent man crush on Korpikoski, you get this sort of trade. I don't like it but hopefully it works out for both parties in the end.

I agree. I still don't understand this trade and I probably never will.

From the 2004 Draft we've picked up NYR's Montoya and Korpikoski.. so Dubinsky must be next..

So we are going with the half Calgary Flames, half New York Rangers approach? Brilliant, DM.

The more I think about the trade the more I like it since it gives us a very responsible bottom 6. Korpikoski can be that switch up type player whereas Lisin was relatively useless in the bottom 6.

Sorry, Enver who?

Loving Korpedo. Has looked solid at both ends of the ice and has more offensive upside than I expected. He doesn't have Lisin's scoring potential, but he's an aggressive checker, disrupts passing lanes, and continually pressures the puck. I think this deal ends up working for both teams.

I think the deal helps both teams

Korpikoski will have a long career as a 3rd line energy player who can PK and score 10 plus goals, maybe more

Lisin can fly and the Rangers had big time issues scoring. His offensive potential is much higher thank Korpikoski but he is no where near the better defender

both good young players , both teams should be happy

I think he's awesome and I'm hoping he kicks ass up there even though it'll be tough to watch as a Yotes fan. I was very very unhappy about the trade. That's not a reflection on Korpikoski, I just like Lisin a lot!

The trade still bugs me. If this offseason shows anything, good defensive forwards can be signed, cheap, and unless korpedo shows some offensive abilities, its a bad trade. Of course TGO was/is still coach so lisin probably wouldn't make the coyotes.

I still really don't like this trade. But after Tikhanov got sent down fairly early, it makes me wonder if Korpikoski is meant to fill the role Tikhanov did last year, while Tikhanov is given more of a chance to develop into a scoring line player.

Yeah, see, this wouldn't be good for us. We already have way too many guys who can put the puck in the net on this team (hence the phrase underneath my name on the left). What we're looking for is 4th line pluggers!

It's too bad we didn't get a chance to see how Lisin would have done without TGO coaching. We need goalscorers.
I hope Korp plays well enough to deserve his spot on the 3rd or 4th line.
If not, we really should be giving the spot to our solid prospects like McLean and Spina.
We need goal production and if we don't get it, the shut down guys are only helping us to lose by less goals.
The new roster guys on the first 3 lines need to score.

If they ever get the puck out of their own zone, that should be a fun line to watch... at least until Gaborik's groin blows up. Who is centering that line? Hopefully someone pretty quick.

It's funny but I would think that Gomez would've been almost ideal between those two. HAHA!
