I don't think Alzner should count as a graduate. had he played 5(6?) less games he'd still be eligable for the ROTY.

yep, but he didn't. therefore the NHL no longer labels him a rookie/prospect.

5 games is 5 games.

i voted Varlamov.

Varlamov will still be eligible for the Calder next season so I have no problem with his inclusion here.

Add Holtby & Eakin.

Varly wins this one easily.

Add Godfrey and Kugryshev

(I can tell already, somehow, that Neuvrith won't get cthe respect he deserves)

It's not a flawed poll. Some standards for determining who is a prospect and who isn't have to be used. He fits the definition. Doesn't matter if he is being anointed an NHL starter already by some or not. The simple fact is he hasn't played in enough games to prove he is more than just a prospect at this point.

Do I think he is good enough? Of course, and so does everyone else. But people have been wrong before and will be again. He hasn't played in enough games to have graduated to the rank of NHL regular. So, he's a prospect

That's how I see it anyway.

Edit: You think Alzner should still be considered a prospect but Varly shouldn't? I find this peculiar. If Alzner is still a prospect then surely Varly is as well.

In about 2 years wait till Michael Neuvirth and Varly challenge for the number 1 spot. I saw Neuvirth at game 2 of the Calder Cup finals. He was amazing even though they lost. Most of his saves me and my Grandfather where shocked he even got them. Caps have some good prospects hopefully we can put it all together and win the cup!

Varly, add Eakin.

I'd also say hold off after number 2 an extra few days so people get a look at some guys at development camp.

I agree. The kid is amazing! I'll be voting him for the #2 spot but I fear he'll probably slip b/c everyone is high on Carlson at the moment (and deservedly so).

Don't make the mistake of overlooking this guy, people.

He's Calder eligible next season, so he's definitely still a legitimate prospect.

Voted Carlson, since I think he's a more can't-miss future star than Varly.

Add Koogs and Perrault (but why 2? Won't the list get crazy long?)

I think carlson is going to turn into the best player on that list. But I don't see how you can vote for anyone but varly at this time
