Parshin Signed?

I was looking at this twitter (that was posted on a rumor blog) and it says Parshin has been signed by the Avalanche and is waiting his fate in Russian court?

Quote:
Young Russians Parshin and Shirokov, who signed the Avs and Vancouver respectively, await their fate tomorrow in court in Russia.

Any legitamacy?

I don't think he is signed, he is just looking to get out of his final year in Russia so he can come play in the states.

We do still have his rights so we would get to sign him.

I'm not getting overly excited until I see something on TSN or something like that. No offense twitter isn't exactly the greatest source because most of the time you have no idea who is tweeting.

It would be sweet if we got him over here, I've been waiting for a long time on him, and had pretty much given up hope on ever seeing him come over. But at least it seems like a possibility now.

Awesome if true. I had just about given up on him coming over.

The court in Russia postponed the announcement of the ruling re Parshin and Shirokov until a later date. No one knows when that will be.

Yeah, I just saw that on Twitter. That guy is reliable when it comes to Russia-related things. I hope the courts let him go. I had given up on him coming over a long time ago, but if he does manage to come it will be great for the Avs.

This would be fantastic news, I have been waiting eagerly for him to come over to see what he has to offer.

He'd might be able to grab a spot on one of the top 2 lines at LW. I hope we sign him.

I guess he would be cheaper than Tanguay

And younger

But I can't see him winning a roster spot though, it will tough for him

Anyone seen him play recently, or has followed him somewhat? What wing does he play? What's his real size? Could he crack the team this year? Thanks.

From what it sounds like players in the KHL that are RFA's, as Parshin is, are automatically resigned for another year with their current club. Or the player can buy themselves out of their contract and become eligible to do whatever like go to the NHL.

What Parshin is doing is going to court to see if there is anyway he can get out of buying himself out.

No matter what the judge rules it sounds like Parshin will be coming to the NHL because it sounds like Parshin is willing to buy himself out, but if he doesn't have to buy himself out to become eligible to come to the NHL, I would assume he would rather do that because it would probably be expensive to buy himself out.

As much as I want to see him play in the NHL he is only 160 lbs so he will get crushed unless he's as shifty as Patrick Kane.

It would be quite something to see Parshin in the NHL....I never thought I'd see it happen.

I guess I'll believe it when I see it.

We'll just give Parshin the amount it costs to buy him out and forfeit a 4th-rounder next year

At the very least I bet Parshin can be an offensive wizard at the AHL level, and hopefully help our future Avs develop more confidence. I'm psyched to see what he can do.

Most of us probably haven't. Can you tell us a bit about him, strengths and weaknesses, and chances of making the NHL next year.

Thanks.

Never seen him play but on some videos, but I watched some hockey in Moscow last year on TV, I had multiple trips there for business, now the transition to America is difficult, the style is very different, much more physical, and he's smallish and he's not an impact player in his league, just a good one among many others.

That beeing said, I'm very excited to see how he could handle the play in the NHL, let's give him a chance, but I don't expect much.

Doctor, thanks for the link.

Parshin is an excellent skater with impressive puckhandling abilities who can dance through defensemen thanks to his golden hands and high level of technique. He's not big, but he learned a bit how to deal with physical play. He tries on defense, but isn't very good in the own zone. Yes, he's not an NHL star player but he can be very good and technique players in these days are becoming more and more important.

Let's hope this is true. It could be a good step in the right direction for the Avs tapping into the Euro/Russian talent pipeline. Kirill Kabanov can be next

sounds like a smaller but more offensively complete Svatos (i.e. can pass and stickhandle effectively).

I'd laugh if the one Russian player in the system actually amounts to something.

I had the same thought reading that. Would be nifty.
