Ottawa is running out of options for Dany Heatley. he obviously doesn't want to play in edmonton. SJ doesnt have enough cap space.
I have read on hockeybuzz.com and other sites that Heatley was packing his bags to New york and that ottawa wanted Mcdonagh, and thats why sather went and got him from the canadians .
Supposedly ottawa told the rangers it was a deal and at the last minute added dubinsky or they wouldn't do the deal and thats when sather backed out.( not saying to trade duby, it was a good idea to back out) For all the people thinking i want to trade him i dont..
Does Heatley have any chance of landing on the Broadway Still? Just wondering

I would hope so. As long as it is not at the expense of Grachev, Dubi, Cally, Staal and a few others and some $ goes back the other way.
If you look at the best teams, they all have a 1-2 punch of elite talent (Crosby/Malkin, Ovechkin/Semin, Zetterberg/Datsyuk).
I think adding Heatley with Gaborik goes a long way towards making us legitimate threat.
there's always a chance. heatley does have a huge salary, but i'm sure we could find a way to squeeze him in. something like roszival, zherdev, mcdonagh and a 1st for heatley and j smith could make sense. two potential 50 goal scorers in our lineup would be insane.

I didnt say anything about giving the duby? so if we can make a deal clearing up space and keeping duby im just thinking. heatley wants to play in ny and will def wave is no trade clause

Sure, but I think that Murray is going to make this as long and as painful as he can for Heatley and leave open the option of having to stay in Ottawa with his teammates that he has abandoned and ignores and the fans that will boo him unmercifully so he can think about that all summer.

all that i know is Del Zotto was definitely in the deal, he is the only person besides McDonagh that i know for sure was in the deal.

I still think the Rangers are very much in on the Heatley sweepstakes. Whether or not Dany actually ends up a Ranger remains to be seen. I have a feeling Sather will offer Rozsival, Zherdev, and a 1st round pick and tell Murray to take it or leave it.
I don't blame Sather for being upset at Ottawa. From what I understand, Murray was asking for way too much, knowing full well that he wasn't going to get fair value back for an unhappy star player.
Rangers can't trade Dubi for Heatley. There would be only one bonafide NHLer at center and there aren't a heck of a lot available without trading. Further, the Rangers can't get Dubi without Redden going. So I don't know how it would get done. I had reservations about Heatley because I'm not a fan of a player looking to get out of where they are, but this kid's freakin' good, reliable and isn't all that old.

Honestly I can't even fathom a way to add Heatley (after having signed Kotalik) even if Rozi was included. Rozi clears up 5m, but you're still $2.5m short and have to replace Rozi too.
he is a 50 goal scorer, and all good teams have a good one two punch like quoted above, thats not obviously the deal, im just saying we should still be in talks with ottawa for him and still see what they want without giving up duby

Sure we could still look into it, BUT you cant trade dubinsky when we cant replace him, and you cant trade both MDZ and Mcdonagh.
The rangers are really high on MDZ, I see him as part of the untouchable list.
