I doubt it. It is in Latendresse interests to sign fo ra short term contract (2 years max) because the guy is on the verge to get top two lines duties + PP time, which mean over 50 pts (25-25-50) seasons for the next two years. Considering Montreal has not the cap space to give him just under 3M$ for 4-5 years, I expect a 1.5M$ for two years. And after that, he will sign for over 3M$ depending on his stats and health.

Sorry, but I have a lot more faith in journalists, bloggers and random internet fanatics than I do in actual NHL players... what kind of insight could they possibly have?

Good, I hope he signs 2-3 year deal at 1.3-1.5 million per.

He's progressing well. Please though, those of you who say "he will score 25-25 this year, gaurenteed", can you please refrain from putting such expectations on him this year. You've done the same thing for 3 consecutive years now, just let him play and what happens, happens, I don't want to hear people ***** and complain if he doesn't reach those expectations.

Would be nice if he signs today, or tomorrow, as long as it's soon.

Or the ever popular argument that if pro-rated over the year playing 1st line minutes + pp he would score approximately 562 goals per season.

Wow, way cheaper than many expected.

In before the "That's still a whole lot of McDonald's," or "I guess you don't need a million bucks to buy junk food."

Should be a good deal for us, and Gui will have to work to get a bigger payday next summer.

good for lats. gets his chance to earn a big payraise with some solid play this year, this is best for both parties. Unless he scored 30 and we can't afford him next year

I like it.

Wonder why'd he'd settle for that amount. If it's to save cap space for this year, I love him even more. If it's because he's hoping of banking on a breakout year .

It's clear he wants to have a good season to cash-in the next season.

Boo, I don't like the term. So much for a long term deal.

Money is good of course, but it's too short. I guess Latendresse felt he wanted to prove he's worth more next season. This term is in his interest, no doubt.

Wow that's cheap. Thought he would have gotten about twice that.

Would have been nice to lock him up for 2-3 years though...

Great deal, if he can cash in next year due to a great season that's a fine problem to have.

Aww I'd like a longer term but this guy wants to be a Hab forever I think.

I look forward to Laps and Lats playing well in their contract years.

About 500k less than I thought he'd get, but clearly he thinks he can earn bigger money on his next contract. Makes sense for both sides.
