Yeah that does make sens, thanks.

I think we all forget that Lats had NO AHL conditioning.

He's turning into a very solid player and I'd take him over No-Hands Higgins anyday of the week.

Awesome, I was worried he'd garner between 1-1.5 million. So that additional salary we saved can be a good buffer in case Plekanec gets more in arbitration than is deserved.

Stewart, Pleks and D'Ago are all that's left. The precedent set will mean that Stewart and D'Ago will be signed 500k for Stewie and around 600k for D'Agostini.

Marc Antoine Godin also notes that Hamilton's Shawn Belle signs a one year contract. http://twitter.com/MAGodin

If Latendresse had Higgins speed,he would be one hell of a player.

And yes right now I would rather have Tender, especially with almost a 2 million dollar difference!!

Certainly feels that way doesn't it...

Its not uncommon for young players to have a 'drop' in salary with their first one-way contract. I remember a similar deal with Higgins for his first one-way as well.
yes, this is exactly what happened to higgins 2-3 years ago, and if i remember, he made even LESS then tender, he was given a 700k deal i beleive, and then signed a 2 year deal at 1.5 mill per i think, but dont quote me on this!

Well he is not eligible to become ufa for a good 4 or 5 years so..

This could work out well for him. If he performs well this year and puts up 50 or so points he could earn himself a NICE long term contract next year.

My guess is that Stewart will get 500 000$ and D'Agostini 600 000$.
Which will leave us with around 4 000 000 to sign Plekanec.

Good job Bob and thank you for taking a discount Guillaume.
I just threw up in my mouth when you said give Plekanec 4 million per.

More free room to add veteran depth.

We're now at 51,4 mil with 20 players signed. (BGL out on LTIR)

So if we could sign Pleks at 2,5 mil, and both Dags and Stewie between 500k and 600k, we would be at 55,1 mil total. With 1,7 of free space. Enough to replace some two-way youngling on the squad for with another veteran.

I don't think he meant the 4 million would all go to Plekanec... He's just saying that after Stewart and D'Ags, we'll have $4M with only Plekanec left to sign.

By my math...

If Plekanec makes $2,750,000
Stewart makes $600,000

Pacioretty starts the year in Montreal, as do S. Kostitsyn, Chipchura, and O'Byrne, while D'Agostini plays in Hamilton, we're looking at only $135,000 in cap room.

Of course, it'll fluctuate during the season depending on Laraque and other injuries.

But still, we're cutting it close.

I don't see why we shouldn't to be honest...it's rare that Bob pulls off any moves during the season so I couldn't care less if there is $0.01 left in caproom.

I personally think that Pleks will make similar money to Higgins, so about 2.3 million.

He's progressing well. Please though, those of you who say "he will score 25-25 this year, gaurenteed", can you please refrain from putting such expectations on him this year. You've done the same thing for 3 consecutive years now, just let him play and what happens, happens, I don't want to hear people ***** and complain if he doesn't reach those expectations.
Who cares how many points he gets... he's gotten visibly better at the game each year, i can't wait to see what he does this year.

This is a great singing and leaves us with about 5,429,000 for Stewart, Dags and Pleks. If we sign Pleks for more than 2.5 I would be surprised but who knows.

Well Grabovski just got 2.9M and Plekanec > Grabovski so don't be surprised to see him around that.

People are dumping on Plekanec wayyy to much. He is a great player and will bounce back for sure.

Laraque will start the season on the long term injury reserve list, so cut 1,5 mil for the pre-season check-up. That makes it 1,7 by my numbers, but I put Pleks at 2,5.

Also, the team doesn't absolutely need to carry 23 players. Once the season starts, adjustements can be made and injuries will certainly happen.
