So What Goons Are Out There?

Don Maloney, General Manager of the Phoenix Coyotes, has said a couple of times that he wants to add another goon to Phoenix.

I don't really want this to be a proposal thread. We aren't giving you Mikkel Boedker or Zbynek Michalek for your four shifts a night gorilla on skates. I don't want this thread to degenerate into that kind of crap.

So anyway, this doesn't even really have to pertain to Phoenix. I'm just looking for a list of guys who are either UFA or potentially on the trading block. Maybe established fighters, or maybe guys that are smashing up the AHL and are ready for the big league.

Personally, I hate the one-dimmensional, four shifts a night goon that gets healthy scratched fourty times a season. So, I would like to say, give me a list of fighters that can play. Unfortunately I really, really doubt that's what my team is looking for. I imagine that all we care about is big and bad, but capable of being an NHLer.

So, who's out there?

I think Burtuzzi is still out there but if i had my way no team would ever sign him again and he'd be just disappear and we wouldn't have to hear from him again, much like Chris Simon.

But yea, im pretty sure he's still floating around out there..He's probably practicing being a jack@$$ by taking small childrens ice cream and smashing it in their faces and beating up on people who are smaller than him around his town. he's probably even kicking puppies and eating kittens when the opportunity arises.

You can have Jody Shelley. A bag of nice pucks will do. I'm completely serious too.

Let's think < 1million bucks. Possibly even two-way contract.

Cote should be more than available from the Flyers. All it would take would be a late pick.

Andre Roy can take regular shifts.

Too bad he can't win a fight against a legitimate heavy weight.

Doesn't he seem like a Burke kind of player?

Isn't Cote more of an inspirational "at least he showed up" kind of undersized punching bag type, or am I way off? Usually fights the big boys and loses 3/4 fights? I'm out here in the West and don't follow hockey goons too closely, but am I on the right track, here?

Stortini (from Oilers) just looks mean. I don't know how he plays (or if he's available) though since I don't watch Edmonton games.

I have a feeling DJ King or Cam Janssen might be the odd man out in STL.

Pretty much, he's not a true heavyweight, but can somewhat hold his own. He's a "light" heavyweight, he matches up well against players like Roy.

most people say he's not physical enough, but Taylor Pyatt is a 6'4, 235 pound knockout-type player if Vancouver jersey sales to girls is used as a benchmark.

Any chance Maloney would bring Josh Gratton back to Phoenix?
