We just got an elite scorer in his prime. It'd be nice to have another, but at what expense?

If we trade Dubinsky, 2010 1st, 2011 1st, Del Zotto (which is the very least Ottawa would want), then we still have no #1 center, when Dubi did just fine with Jagr two years ago (40 points) and last year WITHOUT Jagr (41 points).

Calm down!

Callahan - Dubinsky - Gaborik
Higgins - Drury - Avery

We'll do fine with those two lines as our top two. If a guy like Anisimov or Grachev makes the team and is fit for a top 6 role, even better!

This squad is going to be very exciting to watch!
The great thing is, the Sens may want that considering his talent level but they have no hand right now. There are so few teams interested that they cant raise the price and with his NMC it eliminates a lot of the teams with the cap space because they arent very good. None of us want to give up that much, however if he can be had for much less, say Rozsival, Zherdev, Sauer, Byers, 2nd '10, would you do it?

That's a tough one. He's under contract for a few more years, but the cap might go down next year. If the cap keeps rising, I don't see a problem, but at the same time, Staal will be RFA next year.

It would take a significant salary dump to even work this year. Here's a breakdown from cap geek:

Dany Heatley $7,500,000
Marian Gaborik $7,500,000
Chris Drury $7,050,000
Ales Kotalik $3,000,000
Ryan Callahan $2,300,000
Chris Higgins $2,250,000
Brandon Dubinsky $2,000,000 (or 1.5m?)
Sean Avery $1,937,500
Donald Brashear $1,400,000
Patrick Rissmiller $1,000,000
Brian Boyle $525,000
Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau $500,000

You can substitute low salary for low salary, but let's just say for the sake of argument, those are our 12 forwards.

Then Rozsival gets dumped for picks (hypothetically), but we decide to carry a 7th d-man (or a spare forward at 800k):

Wade Redden $6,500,000
Matt Gilroy $1,750,000
Daniel Girardi $1,550,000
Michael Del Zotto $1,087,500
Ilkka Heikkinen $875,000
Mike Sauer $846,666
Marc Staal $826,666

Add in Hank and Vally and we're 820k OVER the cap.

If we only have the bear minimum of players, it might be doable, but Staal cannot be extended next year.
