Why do you say that? rumor? news?

It was mentioned in the Ottawa Citizen that Wiercioch is expected to sign with Ottawa. It's not unexpected to me, I expect Colborne and Cheverie to also turn pro.

It's official

http://www.denverpost.com/avalanche/...A+Avalanche%29

I'm not a huge NCAA guy, but could someone give me a report on Cheverie? I know he is in the Panthers organization and they have some depth their already, Vokoun, Markstrom, Salak...where does he fit into the equation?

Also, what would possibly be the benefit of him leaving DU? He would like just be a backup in the AHL, rather than finishing his schooling at DU.

Apparently neither player has signed yet so the plot thickens:

Depends, the Panthers may just want to get Chevy in their farm system.

NHL teams are different. I feel the Avs are one of the few teams that really take advantage of the NCAA system. Most teams would have yanked Shattenkirk out of BU after his sophomore year. There would be no doubt in my mind that Wiercioch and Colborne would definately play at DU next season if they were Avs property.

While I'm happy for these kids, I really hate to see DU's program ripped in half with all these signings. Oh well...time for the next guys to come in.

Denver will need the freshmen to produce quickly. I'm pretty excited about their incoming class.

This DU Clarion article confirms that Colborne is gone and that Wiercioch and Cheverie are likely not far behind. Apparently Chevy will be able to graduate at the end of the quarter, despite his junior status.

Although Gwoz does an amazing job with the freshmen when they come in, next year will likely be a transition year for DU. They weren't particularly deep beyond the first line this year, which definitely contributed to their 3 game losing streak to end their season.

Miami also will be set back by a lot of their senior losses this season, so I wonder who'll step up to be the elite next season? Minnesota has been horrid the past few seasons. BC is always a threat (and likely will be again next season as they were a very young team this season). BU likely will be rebounding again after a mediocre season. North Dakota? I don't know what they have coming in, but they weren't a particularly skilled team this season with little top-end talent. Wisconsin? But they're losing a lot of great players to the NHL/graduation this coming offseason although they are very dangerous now.

One thing that is very apparent with Bemidji State and RIT these past two seasons, the divide between the "elite" teams and the lower seeded teams is far smaller than in years past.

Sweet so FLA will have Vokun, Scotty, Chevy, and Markstom next season. Why would Chevy leave his starting position SR year to be a potential back up for a farm team? Seems real odd to me.

I guess so. Still it's not like he'll make six or seven figures, he has no chance in the NHL next year, and it just seems like staying and playing would be more beneficial. I don't really know though, I've never been in his position.

Jaden Schwartz - He won the USHL scoring title with 83 points in 60 games. His appearance on TPS awhile ago suggested he would consider the WHL next year instead of Colorado College. NHL teams will explore that for sure.
Bad news for CC? Credit for this goes to the "Coming Down the Pipe" blog.

It'll probably depend on what team drafts him.

BC vs Wisconsin for the championship. Both semis turned out to be turds and the ice looks pretty bad.

Why in the world are they playing the Frozen Four at Ford Field?! It's a joke; the ice and the stands just look awful. Turd games indeed. RIT, we hardly knew ye.
