I can't see Patrick Sharp as a target of Leafs interest. We need guaranteed first line stars, not maybes.

I like both Kaberle and Tlusty, so I wanna say no to both. But the first deal is a very close yes for me though.

If Tlusty stays on course for potential he could be putting up similar stats to Sharpe in a few seasons. Shapre didn't hit his stride until he went to Chicago and that was 3seasons into his development. Burke likes Tlusty and with good reason. Although his stats are not remarkable he is steady and should only get better.
Lets stay the course and keep what we have. If Tlusky continues to develop with the rest of the potential on our team we will have a playoff bound team.

Wait...what? How can you love the first, when Tlusty is our next best prospect after Kadri (some may argue he is better).

Wow. Both are bad. Tlusty has great potential, and we won't be giving him up that easily.

As for the Kaberle trade...its just brutal... he WONT go for anything less than a 1st and top prospect, and possibly more... Burke said that you have to overpay to get Kaberle.

Easily say no to both.

And for future reference, keep all proposals in the proposal thread.

Patrick Sharp
Bryan Campbell
Andrew Ladd
2010 2nd round pick

Stajan
Van Ryn
Exelby
Primeau

All four players the Hawks get become either RFA's or UFA's at the end of next season, meaning they dont have to resign them. they also free up around 11 million.
Leafs get a top 6, maybe even a top 3 player, while getting a top D,and a young gritty player who will become a RFA at the end of next year. the leafs do take on 4 million dollars though.

is it worth it? or do u not wanna touch Campbell? we could even cut him and his salary (waivers/marlies...haha) and then trade those players for sharp and ladd.

I'm not sure if your aware of the fact that's there's a salary cap now. We couldn't get that under the cap. You do also realize that we have too much money involved in D as it is. Why would you include Exelby and MVR but leave Finger on our team. you could have at the very least moved one of our bad contracts. Brutal, brutal proposal. It's good that you addressed Chicago's needs though. Our d would also cost us 26.94 million a year not to mention that White will be getting a raise at seasons end. So you think Burke can put together a competitive team with 29.86 million available for all goalies and forwards? And that's if the cap doesn't go down next year.

Kaberle - Komi
Beauchemin - Campbell
White - Schenn

That is ridiculous.

Oh, and the trade wouldn't happen.

no to Campbell as well, too much money for 5-6 defenceman unless you move schenn to 5-6 spot and would not do that

Toronto Vancouver/New Jersey

Toronto trades:
Mike Van Ryn
for Vancouvers:
3rd and 4th round selection in 2010

Toronto Trades:
Matt Stajan
for New Jerseys:
2nd and 4th round selection in 2010

This would shore up the amount of draft picks the Leafs have and shed some weight:
1st round pick
2nd round pick (NJ)
3rd round pick
3rd round pick (Van)
4th round pick (Van)
4th round pick (NJ)
5th round pick
6th round pick
7th round pick

Jonas Gustavsson
Vesa Toskala

Tomas Kaberle - Mike Komisarek
Francois Beauchemin - Luke Schenn
Jeff Finger/Exelby - Ian White
Phil Oreskovic

Nikolai Kulemin - Mikhail Grabovski - Alexei Ponikarovsky
Jason Blake - Tyler Bozak - Niklas Hagman
Jiri Tlusty - Rickard Wallin - Lee Stempniak
Wayne Primeau - John Mitchell - Jamal Mayers/ Orr
Christian Hanson
Viktor Stalberg

At the end of the season send an offer sheet to either Peter Mueller or Martin Hanzal($4+), see if Phoenix matches. That would piss Buttman off

not a bad plan, but i dont think that van ryn will get both a 3rd and 4th probably just the third rounder, as he's missed an absurd amount of games over the past 2 seasons. I'd like to keep stajan but i dont think he'd get both a 2nd and 4th as even antropov couldnt get better then a 2nd and conditional 5th, but at the deadline if bozak has transitioned well we could probably move him for the 2nd. Poaching in phoenix wont be allowed as then it would really screw bettman, so im sure there would be some silly reason for the adeal to be nixed

Some of you might not like this... but...

To Philly: Jason Blake, Ian White, Matt Stajan
To Toronto: Danny Brier

They unload salary... we unload salary. We get a PPG centerman. thoughts?

our two top centres then will be small. 5'10 and 5'11. Replicating the habs alright.

i just dont like giving away ian white AND stajan for a player who is only PPG with the right players around him. i just dont think he could be a PPG player on the leafs.

Isn't Brier on Philly's 3rd line? And he was still producing at a PPG....

He is getting old though, and might not be the player we need.

For some reason, after reading Heatley's statement today I can understand his perspective as a hockey player. He loves to play and he wants to play a lot, like the 50 goal scorer he actually is. Can you imagine a Sens-Leafs blockbuster?

i guess he is close enough to a point per game player, but he has really only had 3 maybe 4 good seasons without injuries and the first two he only produced 60 points. even though not many leaf players hit that point total last season, i believe he may not be a player that the leafs would pursue.

keeping on the philly talk though, wouldnt it be nice to see giroux in a leaf uniform? haha cant see it happening anytime soon but thats what daydreams are for, right?
