Rangers Prospect Poll: #2

After almost 200 votes, looks like Anisimov will comfortably win the top spot, and there's a run-away vote to add Stepan, so we should start the next round.

The criteria used to determine who's best is the prospect's present-day trade value. I don't mean that they should be traded or trade value based on someone's need. Let's say theoretically that a number of expansion teams without any present players had to draft these guys, in what order would they go?

Please don't forget to let me know who should be added to the next round.

TOP PROSPECT: ARTEM ANISIMOV

UPDATE: When the polling shows a runaway winner after 100 or so votes, should we continue to vote for the full 24 hours anyway or can we just declare a winner? Let's say someone gets at least 60% of the vote and the next closest guy has no more than 20% after the first 100 votes, should we just proceed to the next guy or let it hang until the end of the 24 hour cycle?

Just look at this round: Grachev is so far ahead of everyone, it's just about impossible for anyone to catch up. Should we proceed to round 3 after just a couple hours when it's this obvious?

Present day trade value? That's a bad way to rank prospects, IMO. Trade value has far too much to do with the receiving team's needs. You can't determine trade value in a vacuum.

Voted Grachev again. Add Werek.

Since it's trade value, Grachev. Add Sauer.

EDIT: If Gilroy is eligible add him.

Grachev. Just want to know if Gilroy and Heikkinen count as prospects? If they do, add Gilroy. If not, add Sauer.

Since this is a Hockey's Future message board, we should probably use their criteria.

trade value? eh

i think we all have our own criteria, and that's the point of the poll.. in the collective fans eyes, who is the top prospect.

Agreed, trade value isn't the way to go.

1) Ceiling
2) Likelihood of reaching that ceiling
3) Current stage/speed of development

That said, #2 is Grachev by a landslide. Might as well close this now and start polling for #3

"An NCAA player who signs his first contract at or above the age of 22 has three years to meet the above criteria (65/45), while those NCAA players that turn pro under the age of 22 will be subjected to the criteria above."

Gilroy signed at 24. He's considered a prospect for sure. It's the same rule that we used to include Matt Zaba the last time.

Heh, missed that. Oddly, I saw the 3rd part about European players, but not the 2nd part about NCAA players...

btw do you realize how lucky we were at the draft last year? We picked Grachev in 3rd round(!) and after one season in OHL he's considered to be a better prospect than MDZ and Sangs (our 1st round picks).
