where did HABS originate?

I know im going to get stabbed and flamed for this but take it easy on me, im a rookie!

What does HABS mean? also , is that why there is an H in the middle of the C?

The CH stands for Club du Hockey

Club de Hockey.

And for Les Habitants, it is a nickname that was given to the Canadiens by the New-York reporters that were traveliing with the Rangers back in the old days.
