If we can get him motivated and playing the style his scouting reports suggest he's capable of playing, I wouldn't be opposed to the idea.

As soon as I saw that he was on waivers Nashville immediately came to mind. Though we would probably wait until he is bought out, then try to sign him. $1.4M is kind of a lot considering he can't seem to get out of his funk.

Nice thought but there are 28 other GM's who are considering the same thing. If he can play up to potiential he would be worht the 1.4 Million but I think if the Preds wait, I think someone will claim him.

I'd rather just have Ward playing on the 2nd line then. He's not worth his contract. I seriously doubt anyone will claim him

imo, P. Eaves is done. too many head and shoulder injuries. good talent cut short by injuries. he could prove me wrong but i just don't see him playing a meaningful role anywhere

It really does... their dad retired in 1985 after sustaining a head injury.

lol,
1.4 million??? For Patrick Eaves????

We could get Comrie, Sykora, or Afinogenov for that price!
What has Patrick Eaves ever done???
I would take any of those 3 over him, anyday. Eaves is nothing good or great and is not what we need.

If we sign Eaves for 1.4 million over the other UFA's that could be signed, I am no longer a Nashville fan! lol (well i still will be, just even MORE annoyed than I am with our situation).

.... Could have sold to Balsillie!! We would be running for the cup!! Thanks again Bettman!

if we pick him up on waivers then it would be 700K not 1.4M. Might be worth it to try a brother combination

no it wouldn't. you are thinking of re-entry waivers, which Boston would never do.

Yeah - but not very well. I like Smolinski - he was a great guy to talk to. But I don't think he showed enough in his ime in the A to justify a contract.

I would like to see us claim Patrick Eaves off waivers, because he has had some success in Ottawa. The only concern would be if he can stay healthy, he's been hurt every season in his short career. I'd still like to see him in a Preds jersey, I think he would give the 2nd line an offensive jolt, more so than with Ward IMO. Poile won't do it though but it was fun to entertain the thought.

I doubt very seriously that any of the 3 you named would sign for 1.4 per. Balsillie is garbage, Bettman is the reason we have a team in Nashville

I'm floored that anyone would be naive and/or outright stupid enough to believe that a Balsillie would keep the team in Nashville.

Assuming his location info is accurate, lightning leggie would appear to be more of a Predators fan than a Nashville fan so a Ball-silly move to Hamilton would be a bonus.

Really did you just start reading some of this persons post? I mean while this may be at the top, it's on par with the rest...

Detroit Signs Ben's bro Patrick for $500. That is pretty cheap for a decent NHL player. And would have been pretty cheap to reunite the Eaves brothers together! Patrick will improve by association in Detroit.

Who knows that we could have gotten him for the same price though, maybe he's willing to take that low $ for a chance at a Cup.
