I attended one playoff game this season and I was lucky enough to have a great view of that move, albeit in an upper section. It was an unbelievable feeling (funny, I saw his pass/spin off the boards move too - not a STH).

Unfortunately that was an ESPY, which means hockey never wins. That could have been in triple OT in game 7 of the cup finals, and it still wouldn't have won. Football will always take those multi-sport awards, and that one was in the super bowl, making it an easier pick.

Ovechkin's play would likely have stood a better chance if it had been a Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals, but going up against football is never good for hockey.

The worst part about it was that Ovie was not even nominated for best male athlete. I know he wouldnt have won it but still.

The Espy's lost all credibility with me when Ovie and "The Goal" weren't nominated for best play. Even guys from around the NHL thought it should have been up for an Espy.

What is strange is that, ESPN editors rated hockey 2nd hardest sport, (#1 spot going to Boxing), but then Football over shadows hockey plays? that's just... well hipocratic!

I'm a huge hockey fan, and that Ovie goal was sick and had a better chance of being the play of the year if it was the winner in game seven of the cup finals.

The Holmes catch was sick...three defenders converging on him, toes dragging, ball out of bounds, superbowl wining catch with almost no time left...

...oh ya and it's ESPN

It's not just ESPN... it's fan voting.
