Not for a 2 hour skate it's not.

3 forward lines, 3 defensive lines = 15 skaters. That's not bad for 2 hours of skating.

not my call, also, i'd bet we'd be hard pressed to find 12 total d-man.

with 12 a side we could rotate some forwards back during the game.

I'm not saying 30 is the number of skaters...

Just the number of "names" of possible skaters. No way that many people show up, not on a Saturday afternoon. Things pop up. Family, friends, floods, famine, fever, all sorts of funky stuff happens and people drop off the list.

20 skaters is only 2 lines a side, 2 hours of skating and people will wear down. We'll see what happens.

And no one likes to play defense, that's what I figured out years ago. Best way to get more minutes, is play where no one else wants to. I was never going to be a scorer, so I settled with being a defender.

I don't have problem playing D.
Already started my off ice workouts.
Been to the gym twice this week
About 10 minutes with 1 minute on the bike Monday and 15 minutes today with approx 2 minutes on the bike today.
Slow but steady, also went from 12 ounce curls to 16.
Following a strict diet this summer of beer and fast-food, oh and since I was in Quebec for a few days I've added helpings of poutine to bulk up.
This should help me keep up on this skate
And now I can get my sticks back since we picked the tomatoes from the garden

Almost signed up for the night shift at work that starts at 6.... (actually I did, then erased my name twice!)

...but Slegr_71 talked me out of it in case of post-game activities.

id like to be added to the wait list. ive really wanted to go to a few of these in the past but most have been at a bad time for me to travel from rhode island. but two hours long on a sat and i'm game. Im a forward but i'm willing to play defense as ive been playing defense on both my mens league teams whenever we dont have enough.

as a grade id say im probably an A-/B+ if I go by the definition of anyone who played varsity high school and is under 25

Sorry guys, with the date change I have a conflict with a Golf Tourny I am playing in and won't be able to make it. I was looking forward to skating with you guys and meeting some of the posters I have been reading here for a few years, hopefully next time...

I see we now have an empty wait list. I see 24 bodies on the roster with over 2 weeks left. You just know there are going to be a few more drop-outs.

I may have two buds (defensemen) who'll ride up with me. I can ask them about their availability. Both solid C skaters.

last skate I think we had 22...IIRC

that was perfect....some people skate longer shifts and some skate shorter shifts...so the energy level was prety high until the end

I think with the the talent level increase, the less skaters the better.... but that is just me

you can inquire about their availability...no harm in that...if we get under 22 I will have you to get them.

Z45

PS the only guy that puked (NUTTY) puked during warmups HA HA....and he is playing net this time so we are all safe!

Speak for yourself, Chris! If he hurls in the crease this time around, some of us are in big trouble!

I don't remember any contact ever but with my luck, you'll choose not to wear them because I said so and you'll end up taking a deflected shot off the collarbone or something.

I play D a lot on my friday night pickup game. I am not a great defender, but I try,and don't mind hanging back there to help out the goalie. I can play anywhere, but I prefer left wing, and right D.

I always suggest full gear at these games but its entirely up to you, you won't get destroyed without it but its safe to wear it.

Looking forward to the skate. For what it's worth, I'm a frequent d-man
in my league games, a #5, if you will, who sometimes is asked to switch
from left wing.

Since there seems to more D popping up, I have no problem skating up front.
Om a related note while I wait to get the OK about a set of white jerseys, I dug out my old white Team Canada practice sweater from 1976. Doesn't quite fit as well, must have shrunk considerably since I last wore it. Rewashed it though there are still some bloodstains from when I didn't use a helmet.
Oh and I spent another 15 minutes at the Gym today and managed to ride the bike for a whole one and half minutes, but at level one this time.
Progress is slow but steady, looking forward to being the last one to puke at this skate
