I figured that they might use the money they saved with Ward as step 1 in a multi step plan to free up money for Kessel, if this is true is that still the case? This has probably been discussed to death here but could we/should we make a play for Kessel?
Was thinking their was an outside chance NYR would move Rozy and sign Morris. Him signing in Boston which is close makes me think he was waiting for it
are the Bruins not looking to shed salary. He has to get atleast 2 mil
give away Prucha Dawes and Kalinin for Morris to play 18 games.
awesome.
Kalinin was terrible and he was gone at the end of the year. Dawes is nothing special as he disappears every 10 games. The only thing we gave up worth anything was Prucha and as much as I love him, he was another 3rd line player. It's not like we gave up a top prospect or something.

Same response I've been hearing...
So your telling me that those 3 players can only bring back a 18 game stint with a player of Morris' caliber??
solid defenseman, did a good job here. No way we had the cap room to bring him back. best of luck in boston

REALLY??????
If anything I'd be more upset with the Antropov trade since we let him walk and gave up a 2nd round pick. It was a rental from the start, I really don't know what you were expecting.

Yes. Kalinin was brutal and needed to be replaced, but we needed a taker. Dawes just got waived by a non playoff team, and Prucha is a top 6 forward who isn't good enough to get into our top six. Consider the deal as those three guys for 4 million in cap room. Morris was not all that great when he was here, and sure as heck was not worth anything close to 4 mill a season.
Can people please stop complaining about their favorite borderline average third liner from 2 years ago (who got picked up off the scrap heap)? Seriously.
Oof. Glad it wasn't us who signed him. Ward played really well for the Bruins at a lower cap hit, so I'm not sure if this move makes sense, although Morris is a better passer.
Now the Bruins will have to make another trade if they want to fit Kessel under the cap....
