Do you think the departure of Kovy will affect

AK, SK, and Markov?

Kovy seemed to be mentoring the bros alot..

.. and Markov/Kovy has lots of chemistry on ice.

The only chemistry they have is the cross ice pass for the one timer goal.

Cammalleri likes those too.

No, they are professionals.

His departure can only be positive for the team.

AK will be better without him
SK will be better with a less flaky role model
Markov is a monster and will play will with anyone

SK wont be able to take 1 game off out of 2 anymore.

That will affect him.

It's never a good thing when kids just joining the NHL see the team leader in points take half of the games off. They will be better off.

According to who? Sergei said in an interview that they're not really close to Kovalev at all.

I remember reading that as well. Just becaues they are both russian (+belarusian) does not mean that they are close..

I remember an interview on the Corus Sports website with Markov during ''media day'' of the All-Star Game weekend last season and he was critical of certain things about Kovalev, especially when Kovalev would drift away from the team concept. I really don't think they were that close either.

It'll probably effect Plekanec the most. Plekanec was setting him up all day. But I guess he'll still be with Cammy/AKost so we'll see.

AKost was pretty mature with regards to both him playing in the minors, the SKost-Grabovski situation, and Sergei getting sent down; didn't complain about playing in Hamilton, said the Grabovski-Sergei fight was between them and he had no qualms with Grabo, and said Sergei getting sent down was his own fault and that he had to work on his problems himself. I don't think Kovalev's departure will bother him.

Markov's attachment seems more to the team and city than the players. His response to the media with regards to convincing Ovechkin to come to Montreal (when he was a RFA) made me believe he just wants to play in Montreal, and not necessarily that he wants to play with certain players.

Sergei, I don't know, but his English is good enough that it shouldn't hinder him. Besides, who cares about Kovalev when you can party with Markov?

I dont think it will affect them at all. AKost and Kovalev seemed to be kinda close 2 years ago when they were putting up points together with Pleks. Things seemed to go a lot different last year and I think Kovalev was more focused on his own game/ critics.

In five years when Ovechkin is UFA Gomez-Gionta and Cammalleri are going UFA too. Maybe we can loose one or two of these and sign Ovechkin to the league maximum for 15 years, whatever it takes

Markov was here before Kovalev and he seems to have level character, so I dont think Kovalev going will affect him much.

The Kostitsyn. Despite having Kovy draw attention from both fans and opposing teams was useful - I think this might actually benefit them. The team has couple more shoot- first players (if they are coached that way) - which will fit their playing styles better. I'm hoping that, even for junior. Atleast theres no hiding behind the veterans now.

Markov's mentor with the Habs was Oleg Petrov. One of my favorite players of the "dark years" and a guy who gave it his all every game, he was awesome with Gilmour. They were like a not quite gay, not quite brothers friends. Petrov still visits Montreal sometimes.

Kovalev's departure will have its effect on both MTL and Ottawa's powerplay. He's still a top 5 PP guy and he'll kill us in games against the Sens.

I feel ya,

If we wouldn't have signed Cammalleri it wouldn't be the same story.
