Rangers Prospect #9

As I expected, Kreider was the easy winner last round, but this time, it should be much closer. Nigel Williams was voted to be added.

2. Evgeny Grachev
3. Michael Del Zotto
4. Bobby Sanguinetti

It has to be Michael Sauer.

And you have to add Carl Hagelin.

Squish quoted something that said Kveton was planning on playing all year in the Czech League and that he wasn't even going to come over for our camp. I'm not voting for him if he's not gonna come over.

What's so great about Sauer? He has limited upside; he has no skills that will translate into any kind of offensive output at the NHL level; he's not that big and doesn't hit all that much. Maybe I missed something in the few times I've seen him, but I saw nothing special.

He'll probably be a third pairing defenseman or a career minor leaguer. Dane Byers is closer to making the NHL and Werek + Bourque have greater potential. I think all of them have more value than Sauer.

Sauer time!

Rock solid defenseman. Will fit nicely in any teams top 4 for years in the NHL if he can stay healthy.

Isn't that big? He's 6'3 220lbs. That's pretty damn big.

I'll never understand why a guy has to throw massive hits or score 45+ points to be a valuable defensemen.

I like Sauer, but I think people are underrating Werek. In a year or so he might be our best offensive prospect, and I mean that in a good way.

Add Boyle.

Didn't you know? If a D-man prospect doesn't go for the bit hit all the time or pot goals like Green, he's nothing more then a journeyman d-man at the NHL level.

If you don't notice a D-man out there, more then likely he is doing his job propperly. He has 3rd/4th d-man (more likely 4th) written all over him. Pair him with an offensive D-man like MDZ or Sangs down the road.

He's pretty damn big, rock solid, positionally sound and plays the body. Those are all attributes that will translate to the NHL level. That he doesn't score goals isn't a concern for me.

As far as who is more NHL ready...I mean, Sauer DID get a couple of games under his belt last season. He looked solid in one, and played like one period in the other. Watching him in Hartford last season, he looked completely ready to take the next step. IMO.

Sauer runs away with this one. He's all but a lock to be an NHL defenseman and has 2nd pairing potential.

Add Boyle

Valentanko should be added soon too.

I think both Kundratek and Werek are underrated prospects, they should probably be the next two.

I think Sauer is a good bet to make it as a defensive D-man, like his brother. But I'm voting Werek because of his higher upside.

I'd have added Kveton much earlier, but I'm afraid the Rangers let him get away. Like Jan Marek, he's now proven himself enough in Europe to get nice guaranteed money, which he's not going to get with the Rangers. So add Hegelin.
