He could sign for less, but I think on the open market he'll probably get more than that....

UFA is UFA.
As of right now, the Rangers can try to trade his rights to the arbitration, but once the deadline passes he can sign with anyone for any amount.

Won't happen, just want to know if it's allowed. Would the Rangers be able to sign him?

UFA - whatever he can negotiate.

BTW the Rangers cannot sign him.

Zherdev is as good as gone, I just wonder if Sather is gonna sign him and trade him or just let him leave as UFA?
I think you've got it backwards...Slats signed Kotalik with the expectation that Zherdev will be gone.

I don't think you can trade him before January if you accept his arbitration deal.

If you can sign Dubinsky for around 1.5 (I don't know what he's asking for!?) and don't add gilroys 1.75 Hit to the Cap it actually will fit....

The Cap-Room would be a tinny $179,168 and the defense would look like this:

Wade Redden ($6.500m) / Michal Rozsival ($5.000m)
Daniel Girardi ($1.550m) / Mike Sauer ($0.847m)
Marc Staal ($0.827m) / Nigel Williams ($0.825m)
Corey Potter ($0.550m)

I'm realy courius what Sather is gonna do!?

If Williams gets top six minutes in the NHL, the Rangers are in BIG trouble.

Wow you one game and than float for three. He's still young. Can he find the maturity to man up every game on another team?
how could they possibly know that? They haven't so much as sniffed a playoff position before last season.

he is 24 and a scoring threat. Match and look to make a good move to clear salary so he can stay

I don't really think that Zherdev at 3.9 is terrible value. Zajac was paid at around that neighborhood and he has comparable offensive numbers. The problem is that Zherdev thinks he should get paid a lot more. It would be a tough sell to get a team to bite on a 2nd line winger thats lazy, makes dangerous plays and might have an attitude problem for equal value.

I think in the right environment maybe he matures. Some place like Detriot, however unlikely that might be.

Not if we have to pay nearly double the salary and give up our only right-handed shooting defenseman who's also a fan favorite, great in the locker room and with the media, and wearing a Cup ring.

And just for the record...

Definite warning was not given about the playoffs per se - for the reasons you state it was impossible to know - but it was suggested as being highly likely given how they tend to come around at the time that he's least effective.

I'm actually glad the Jackets have an internal cap so we can't touch crap contracts like Rozsival's

First off, it's not "nearly double" the salary. Commodore makes 3.75 million, while Rozsival makes 5. Thats 1.25 million more. Rozsival is the better dman. Both are overpaid though.

Secondly, you do realize Rozsival is right handed too. So it would be a lateral swap in regards to that.

Im not saying the trade is good or bad for you, but I just want to get some facts straight.

He vanished into thin air toward the end of 07-08. We were 3 points out of a playoff spot that winter before the wheels came off.

Kotalik is your team's Zubrus, imo.

and lol at that guy proposing a Devils/Rangers trade.
Because those happen SO often.

and if we gave up our capo for stunted slime like Zherdev, I'd be infuriated.
