ask any leaf fan during aki's days about aki's playoff reputation. aki always showed up for the leafs in the playoffs. that fact might hurt...but its the truth. go look up the stats.

He made a lot of bonehead plays, but he was definitely not a pylon. He was pretty fast, and mobile for a big guy. He just couldn't get past the mental part of the game. Always had the skill to be a top pairing guy. There's a reason he was drafted 3rd overall. He topped out at a #4, but was a bottom pairing guy for much of his career.

its too bad leadership, toughness and sacrifice don't show up on the scoresheet everynight.

We would never have drafted Luongo... we had Potvin at the time.

Plus - Schneider turned into Karpovtsev, who turned into McCabe. Say what you will about him, but he had some productive years here.

So scratch that one.

Ditto the Berg/Cammalleri and Kurvers/Neidermayer things... again, we probably wouldn't have taken those players.

So, that leaves us with the Rask/Raycroft deal (awful on so many levels, and painfully obvious at the time), the Courtnall/Kordic deal, or write in candidate... the Nolan trade.

Since the Nolan deal... two teams have given up on Boyes, so that eases the sting a little bit. Kordic had some personal demons, so that is a little mitigation.

I vote Rask/Raycroft.

One thing that is really dumb, is why were the Leafs so trigger happy to make a trade when they had a top 5 pick in the past.
Yes the Nolan trade is right up there. That was brutal. Boyes a probable 40 goal scorer over the next few years and McCauley was a solid 2 way player when healthy and great team guy. I love Nolan but he was done when he came here.

one of pat quinn's best trade in this poster's ppinion. shame on u.
Correction, it was Roberts who finished off Peca with the knee hit. Berg did do a decent job we just hated him because he was a 3rd overall bust and had high expectations. However, he wasn't a bad stay at home guy. Cory Cross on the other hand jesus christ.

That was Darcy Tucker... Roberts took out Kenny Jonsson. That was probably the nastiest series the Leafs have been in in my life time.

Honestly the Aki Berg trade wasn't bad. Mair and Cammalleri for Berg would be bad, but Mair and a 2nd for Berg wasn't bad at all. No one could predict that our 2nd rounder would become anything special.

IN 5 years when Stralman becomes an awesome PMD and Stuart matures into a Pahlsson-esque PKer:

Stralman+Stuart+2012 7th

For

Wayne Primeau + 2011 2nd.

HockeyAustralia, shame on you !!!!!

Not a snowballs chance in hell of that happening. Besides do you actually think either Ottawa or Montreal has been run better the past 10 years? I will take the current Leaf roster and prospect list over the Habs or Sens in a heart-beat!!!

The team he played for was bad yes but Kubina was a player they had to move. Did you really think this guy can help groom Luke Schenn into a top notch player when all Kubina did was shy away from contact all year and not stick up for his teammates? Kubina is NOT the kinda player you want logging 20mins a night from. Kubina was the worst leaf dman last season no question. You think we shoulda kept this guy ?

Kubina for Francois Beauchemin and Exelby is a no contest win for the leafs. One of he best trades made in years.

I'm willing to bet that you will be raving about how amazing the leafs defence is this season and Kubina will be quickly forgotten. If you want your dman to be picking their teeth outta the glass all season and allowing teams to punish them on the fore check by all means sign Kubina. I prefer dman that play the position looking to intimidate wingers during puck pursuits.

Can't wait for Exelby to hit the ice

Anyone remember this?

And more for us to look forward too..
