Stralman+Primeau trade may just be the first....

Quote:
Just got a tip that the Stralman-Primeau swap is the tip of the iceberg to something larger happening in Toronto. Being told to keep an eye on the Blue Jackets. Brassard and Klesla are two names that have been bandied about.

There has been a lot of talk surrounding Columbus, Vancouver and St. Louis during the past week. The suspicion is that today’s Stralman trade was a necessary move to facilitate another, larger move with one of the three aforementioned teams.

One can only hope....

I hope this is true! If the Leafs can get Brassard that would be MONSTER!

No idea, just passing it along. Myself and many I'm sure hope that the trade had a bigger purpose then bringing in Primeau.

I actually have a legit hockey source/write from Columbus. Let me email him, i'll post an update on this tomorrow.

edit: emailed the Jackets writer...if he replies i'll post an update ASAP.

Then we'll just get owned again in another trade.

hahaha

I guess if there is a subsequent trade we'll be sending a pick to whichever team. I think Primeau is going to be waived anyways.

How about, change Brassard+Klesla, and give us Filatov!

Agreed.

I don't see how giving away Stralman is "a necessary move to facilitate another, larger move"

Apparently, if the Leafs carried Strallman this year, in order to have sent him to the marlies he would've had to clear waivers. Which means we would've lost him for nothing if we wanted to send him down. This deal makes a little more sense now. Burke knew he wasn't going to carry him up with club, so he got something for him.

What do we have besides Schenn or Kaberle (who arent going anywhere) that could yield us Brassard?

I think that's the only name needed.

Brassard and others will be Leafs. Burke and all these fans deserve that. I love life.

Not happening. But I do see this as a trade to get under the 50 max contracts. But as was stated above, its too Eklund like.

Who's left in UFAs? Tanguay comes to mind, but he's not a burke player, and doesnt fit anything Burke has done.

Brassard huh?

Not going to buy it, the only assets with similar value to that of Brassard's are Kaberle and Schenn and they aren't going to move.

Schenn's an obvious no.

But if deal Kaberle, our transition game would seriously be crippled, but if this were true, I'd love for Burke to get Brassard.

CBJ wants puck moving Dman. Either Kaberle or White. Scratch Stralman.

Can't see it. Imagine Mike Komisarek and Luke Schenn on the 2nd PP unit.

Why would you have to move Stralman? He is cheap, they lost cap space......Makes no sense.
