Any 1 year deal is excellent as far as I'm concerned, he would bridge a gap for developing players and we wouldn't have to worry about having to trade his contract away to trim salary after this season. Not to mention he'd be a fantastic trade chip at the deadline if we did end up bottom feeders again.
I would love a one year deal. I know the Cowboys are up to their spurs in money problems but this deal could really push us past the bottom feeders and into contention for a 6-8 spot in the playoffs. You have to spend to make and a decent run this year will help to revitalize the fanbase. As has been said a year with Vinny could boost his numbers and hopefully land him a nice veteran deal next offseason. Looks like a win/win to me.
2 years, I'd want 3.75 max. I'd get over it if higher, but if he stunk in year 1, I'd say we'd definately move him for w/e we can get at the draft.
Tanguay is a definate upgrade over Vrbata, and is much more consistent as well. The only major issue I have with him is potential injury concerns...but honestly we could say that about Vinny L, and Ranger, as well as Meszaros.
Here's hoping what helps us both short and long term happens for us. I'm optimistic that it'll happen one way or another with the right player.
