I liked Hoyer in college...figured he'd at least be drafted and was surprised that nobody bit on him in the 6th or 7th rds at least. Nice to see him showing some pluck, but I think the Pats need to find a legit backup this season. Hoyer and Walter ain't it.

yea, hot rumor is AJ Feeley but can we wait until Vick's reinstatement?
That game last night showed the depth that the Pats have...
BJGE, Aiken, Hoyer and Nunn..
These guys looked great.
Yeah it's refreshing to see a Patriots RB who can carry the ball up the middle and through traffic for a gain instead of dancing around in the backfield and ending up in a 3 yard loss. I liked what I saw from Maroney when he was with Minnesota but those two draft picks (Maroney and Jackson) look really bad right now, in stark contrast to how they looked at the time.
Hoyer surprised me, too. He was playing against a bunch of scrubs but the arm strength and accuracy were there, plus he's got some mobility.
Hoyer absolutely makes this squad, though I think they need a true backup QB. Watson/Smith for AJ Feely anyone as the Eagles do need another TE.
Speaking of Watson/Smith, I don't see how both of them make the final 53.
BJGE absolutely makes this club, especially with the age of Faulk/Taylor/Morris. If the Pats decide to only take 4 RB's, I could see Morris being the odd man out, due to the fact that he is injury prone. I don't see them getting rid of Maroney this year.
As for the WR's, I see them taking Edelman and Aiken over Nunn, but if Slater's injury is what it looked like to me (broken elbow), I bet Nunn sneaks onto the roster.
Regardless, there's a few tough decisions regarding bubble players for BB and crew tomorrow.
First round of cuts before tomorrow's deadline are in:
* Quarterback Andrew Walter
* Receiver Robert Ortiz
* Guard Billy Yates
* Defensive lineman Stephen Williams
* Linebacker Vinny Ciurciu
* Safety Roderick Rogers
Obviously the surprising move is releasing QB Andrew Walter, which leaves them with only Hoyer as the backup. This also leads me to believe that a trade for Feely or someone is imminent.
Damon Huard is a has been, I'd honestly rather trade someone for a younger, better backup QB. Huard just doesn't have arm strength anymore, not to mention he's 36 or 37

That's not what it's about. Huard makes sense because he knows the offense, and wouldn't hurt you if Brady were to go down for a game or two. No growing pains with Huard.

I get that, but I'd rather have someone who can actually play QB backing Brady up considering he's coming off major knee surgery, though all signs have pointed to him being fine.
TE David Thomas traded to NO for a 2011 pick (undisclosed- possibly conditional) according to Adam Schefter. Pats acquire TE Michael Matthews from NY Giants for conditional 2011 pick.
