It is in my opinion the signature of an average team or less, and I guess it's confirmed by the fact that the interest in Jacket UFAs is very low. BUT...it looks pretty good next season

A. They coasted into the playoffs, while not a desirable way to end the season, I would hardly call that "barely making the playoffs".

B. They were swept by the best team in the West, and maybe the league. Again not a desirable outcome but all things considered, its not all that bad.

I think it's more that there's more or less no point in arguing with you, as actual factual evidence doesn't seem to be used in debate.

But here we go anyway.

Of the players you mentioned, how many were considered 'driving forces' on this team? True, Manny was probably played more in the top six than any team should ever play Manny in the top six, but we did have this kid named Brassard that was injured for half the season. Williams came on at the end of the season and was spectacular for us (29 points in 39 games), and if it weren't for the (as Viqsi put it) metric ****-ton of wingers on this team and monetary issues, I would wager he would be a Blue Jacket next year.

Outside of that, the Jackets hardly relied on the other players you listed. Peca killed some penalties for us. Backman and OKT combined didn't play the whole season, and I suspect they would have played less had Klesla been healthy.

The players you listed might not be the best in the league, but even we used them, for the most part, as filler. I don't think that reflects as poorly on the team as you suggest.

Yep. Good teams go out and get temporary players that can fill in in the event of major injuries. Like how we eventually picked up Williams since Brassard was injured.

No, DSL, you're not the only one not getting her/his point (Don't know if The Wolf is male or female, sorry)

When logic, reason and facts fail to have any impact on a debate, the other party is just making blind and baseless attempts to cement their position, however asinine it may be.

Given the list posted on the first page of other, and some arguably, better UFAs still available, I feel perfectly comfortable that our fill-ins still aren't signed.

Was our team last year worse than this year's is shaping up to be? On paper, yes. In reality, we don't know yet, as this year's team hasn't even played a single game yet. For all we know, all our sophmores could slump. Our UFA pickups could suck ass, and all the veterans could mail it in every night.

Let's get a couple games played with this years team, and then call last years team worse.

Good point, but we're still very light on depth.

OK, I meant I was the only one getting Wolf's point.

The way I'm reading it now is Jackets UFA's are underwhelming, which may account for why the team wasn't better than it was last year. This is not to say the team didn't achieve or to point fingers and say "look how bad the CBJ UFA's are!" - which is what I thought originally and it seems most still think.

Now, this point is also arguable, but not via the "oh yeah!" method.

If OKT goes the Flyers, does The Wolf go to their board? Is it a package deal?

I kind of thought he'd* demanded a trade shortly after OKT wasn't qualified. I guess he hasn't been traded yet.

Good, you got my point. All I said is departing Jackets struggle on the market which I find interesting because it tells a few things about the team. Hopefully they will be replaced by more valuable players who will increase the quality of their game.

Some people got upset about those comments, not a surprise really.

I don't live in Tolle's pockets, and I'm not a Flyers fan. But I got a feeling it will happen

Yes, compared to a three toed-sloth, he was very fast.

...we struggled early in the season because of our goaltending and d. The 2nd half of the season was third best in the league behind Pittsburg and St. Louis. 'Struggled a lot' is misleading and not true once the new year came.

Did we re-sign Craig MacDonald? He played fairly well for us when it looked like our guys were going to start dropping like flies again, didn't he? He's still listed on the Crunch's roster on their site, but not on the CBJ roster.

It is a pity J-W will not probably play here.

Peca - not
Malhotra - not (we have Pahlsson)
Backman - not
Tollefssen - off
Williams - probably off.

And from UFA players from the other teams I would like to see Mathieu Schneider. He is a good PPQB, he has experience and he could help Kris Russell.

What about Novotny?? He's RFA (not UFA - OT so shoot me) but, haven't heard a word about him...he's not a favorite of mine or anything. Just curious...

I forgot about Dubie, didn't he sign with the Wild? He and Mason became very good friends, but that's no reason to keep him. A puck went over Dubie's head and into the net, that was enough for Hitch...too small

I heard Novotny went to Europe.

So far:
Michael Peca: No offer
Jason Williams: Possible Red Wings
Manny Malhotra: No offer
Christian Backman: No offer
Tollefsen: Signed Flyers
Aaron Rome: Signed Canucks
Dubie: Signed Wild

I can't believe it if Malhotra isn't signed by next season, he's not that bad.
