Weather GDT - January: Unseasonable warmth

My WeatherEye is giving me a severe thunderstorm watch for Edmonton tonight...hopefully things don't get as bad as 2 weeks ago.

Note that this is a watch, not a warning, so it is likely more probable that it'll occur.

Looking at the weather graphs there should't be any tornadic weather. The worst that the storms can get is golf ball size hail and 80-90Km winds and heavy downpours.

What?

There's just minor, everyday breezes here in southern Edmonton. Still sunny,

Oilfan11 is in his element tonight and as excited as a 25 year old that's finally going to lose his virginity not because of religeous beliefs, but because he's struck out more times than the Detroit Tigers during the Fielder, Deer, and Tettleton days Sorry for the baseball reference I USED to like that sport

Radar shows scattered small storms have clustered over the Carvel weather station, which is on Highway 16 due west of us. It is pretty interesting and slightly ominous in the way they come together.

Rain and high winds have started to hit Spruce Grove, but the main storm is still to the west of us. We will let you know what to expect.

Just a good soaker of a storm coming through the Grove towards Edmonton, strongh winds to start, but nothing extreme. Put away the deck chairs and you will be OK.

Have a friend stuck in Wal Mart in Leduc, the power is out and they moved everyone to the middle of the store because they thought it might be a Tornado. The worst seems to have passed there they said. The clouds don't look threatening at all. The power is out in some places in Leduc and WOW is the thunder and wind picking up crazy in Millwoods. Yikes that was loud!!

Just the one huge crack of thunder and now it seems to be passing. The wind has died down, off to the Ball game soon!
