The static level of this storm is amazing. 3 of the my facebook friends reported seeing different strikes within about 20 miles of each other!!!

latest 630 ched update

Stage did tip with 100-150 people on it and just prior to Kevin Costners band taking the stage.

Wind hit immediately and was gusting extreme in secs.

Still no more word from people on sight.

I'm trying many sources and getting next to nothing else yet

edit; emergency people from all surrounding areas are now at the sight and part of the stage was tipped and collapsed. Trying to evacuate the site right now.

Camrose particularly hard hit and some roofs off on a gas station and a hotel.

Some people being interviewed now with only minor injuries so hope for the best.

Tents were flying in the air on site and many of the campsites trashed that were tents.

Tents, chairs flying around. Most people I'm hearing so far just lost there tents and chairs and are not hurt.

edit Various boats capsized at wabamum as storm hit instaneously and boats were caught in the middle of it. No casualties known.

ps ched is right on this and seeming to be the best news source on all this kudos to them

Bad news Stars ambulance direct enroute and "body retrieval?" vehicle has been dispatched.

BVJ-1 known dead and up to 60 people possibly trapped in stage wreckage. Emergency vehicles arriving already at Camrose with injured..again these are tentative reports as they come and having to trust word of mouth witness reports.

Sorry. I was at clubfit working out so limited visibility when this thing hit edmonton.

Walk in at 4:30 clear Sky blue, sky black 30 mins later.

This sucker was moving.

ps I'm really pissed that on the forecasts they could not give any approximate time of arrival on this. 60mins before storm hit and all you hear on the advisory is severe thunderstorms "tonight"

jebus, anything more accurate than that so people can know?

Wind is picking up in CGY right now. (Im watching the game on TSN).

The storm seemed to be easterly pointed but I'd say CGY is going to get a taste, too.

Its coming strong on CGY right now.

One of those twitter messages say people are trapped under the stage. I really hope that's not true.

According to weather reports your getting less of this front then central Alberta.

Unbelievable. 3 times now since October 2008 Edmonton area has been hit with massive over 100km winds. two weeks ago went up to 140km.

Jamborie is cancelled for the rest of the year obviously... not hearing good news about the 60 people.

BTW... there are 60+ people trapped in the rubble, Stars is having problems finding somewhere to land because of all the wreckage all over. One person is dead... These are confirmed.

ftr I've been posting that for the last half hour. Ched is getting first reports on this and I'm just typing it out in realtime.

edit: I witness report: Wall of sand and black wall of cloud hit BVJ suddenly. People could see it coming but nothing much you could do to get out of the way.

several porta potties blew over with people inside of them.

My friend just said he saw 20 tents fly over him at BVJ.

Also, isnt the death race this weekend? Lots of camping going on this weekend everywhere.

I am actually in RD.

I'm watching the CFL game (CGY versus SSK) in CGY and as of the moment its breezy there but nothing like what just went through RD. We had multiple lightening strikes here in RD for sure.

Storm was mostly going easterly for sure. CGY will not get the eye of it.
