Kings-Montreal

Now my rumor can stay......Eklund is reporting it...Is that better to keep my thread around ?......=)

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklun...Bruins/1/22371

Hey my other thread got closed due to some reputable source or something and i aint a constant poster on Hfboards so i do not know how to re-open a thread so i started a new one and added two more sources.

CKAC TEAM 990 radio says the Kings & Habs are in talks with Frolov going to Montreal for a package that includes both Kostitsyn brothers, and one of O'Byrne, D'Agostini or Gregory Stewart.

when Eklund called me about this as I was returning from the Kings used equipment sale, I fired off an email to a person close to the situation.

"The Kings don't know how good they have it with Fro" said the reply. "They're talking". But the request for the players supposedly going back to the Kings went unanswered.

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Matth...lund/125/22373

To Kings :

Sergei Kostitsyn
Andrei Kostitsyn
and one of....
Matt D'Agostini
Ryan O'Byrne
Gregory Stewart

To Habs :

Frolov
+......?

As a Kings fan who loves Frolov i still wouldn't make this trade. We can get much more than that for Frolov from another team. Montreal would have to add more to the deal.

This was discussed at another forum about CKAC saying this. So far there is no proof there. It must have happened earlier, as right now they're talking about the CFL

You need to reference someone with credibility. Eklund works here.

As for the deal, huge pass. All that for a UFA ? Nah. If he's signed to an extension before hand, then we might be able to make something work.

you posted a link that cited the radio station. I personally didn't put much faith in the link, but its certainly just as legit as most of the crap posted. When we have Eklund threads popping up everywhere and ************* from twitter as legit sources I don't see how yours was notably bad. I thought the thread was worth keeping.

I could see this happening, MTL is probably looking for a low cost/expiring contract and Frolov fits the bill. Andrei Kostitsyn couldn't hold Frolov's jock strap but at least we might get D'Agostini to go with the Kostitsyn's.

Blasphemy, expiring contracts are going to become hot commodities at the deadline with the cap coming down next summer.

Personally i think Frolov is worth more value then the players names given.

Its not quantity over quality.

Frolov is just better than everyone by a big margin...IMO

I don't know if the rumor is true but it hasn't been denied by CBGB on LGK either who also writes on hockeybuzz about the LA KINGS.

There has to be more to the deal

I'd personally be willing to gamble on Andrei Kostitsyn getting himself onto an even footing with Frolov for individual player value this season. Yes, a gamble. But that's before the contract situation or the extra players start figuring in.

With the contracts, there's absolutely no way the Habs should be able to contemplate this trade. Both Kosts will be RFAs at the end of their current deals, and the Habs are in a really precarious cap situation with respect to retaining any impending-UFA players like Frolov would be. I would reject this deal outright with haste and extreme prejudice. It's just not something the Habs can afford to do.

That said, Bob Gainey may feel personally desperate enough to not care too much about what the future holds past this season. I pray that isn't the case!

It's just as easy for me to say that the Kings are looking to land LeBlanc who they were very high on at the draft for Frolov as it is for Eklund saying that the Habs are trying to re-unite Frolov and Cammalleri.

Leblanc for Frolov would be a much better deal for the Habs than Andrei Kostitsyn for Frolov would be. There'd still have to be some cap levelling component, though.

Probably. But if I do, I still have more players left on July 3rd, 2010, I will still win out in the longterm, so I don't mind gambling.

Touche, though if we let Frolov walk as a free agent, I am probably not the only one who will want to burn Lombardi in effigy

Frolov is 3 years the elder of Andrei Kostitsyn...Andrei will be every bit as good as Frolov and could be even better.

I wouldn't want to let Andrei Kostitsyn go, and I don' think it would be fair to make a trade of Frolov vs. A. Kost+ considering the contracts.

I would be willing to give some of the other stuff.

Maybe:
Sergei Kostitsyn
Ryan O'Byrne
Prospect

vs.

Frolov

It might not be what LA wants, but I think its as much as I would give.
