Could Tommy Salo decide the Oilers' fate?

From rotoworld.com:

David Aebischer will start in goal Friday against the Blue Jackets and then rest Sunday, reports the Denver Post.
The plan is for Tommy Salo to play against the Predators on Sunday. Adjust your roster accordingly.

If that game is the one that matters, the irony will be incredible.

good call. Ironic isn't it. hard to believe he might be the man to make you or break you. Though the Avs division title hopes would likely lay on his shoulders as well.

look at it this way...it's much better than if Sauve was the one to decide the Oilers fate.

I think Tommy is going to do us proud against Nashville. I honestly don't see that big a difference between him and Aebischer. The Avs will win if they come to play, it's as simple as that..

I am rooting for you guys but I have to disagree here.

Goalies are the least Avs problem right now. They are not playing up to their potential offensievly and on D.

The idea of Tommy playing the Preds has sat in my mind for a few days now. I knew this would happen. C'mon Tommy!

Tommy's record against Nashville this year: 0-2-1-0, 2.95GAA, 0.896 SV%
Colorado's record against Nashville this year: 1-1-0-1

hmmmmm

I agree goaltenders are the least of the Avs problems.. that's why I said if the team comes to play (unlike the past month or so), they should walk away with a victory. The Preds don't get any rest in between games so I'm hoping they're a bit tired when they roll into Avalanche territory..

Aebischer has been better than Salo. There's a chance the Avs could have the division title wrapped up by Sunday. I think the division title thing is a little overblown if it means the difference between 3rd and 4th place (of course Dallas is in that mix too, 4th or 5th). Let's hope that the Canucks beat San Jose (who have clinched their division) then lose to us and hope that somehow Colorado is still playing for something on Sunday, even if its just home ice and not the division title. I would think that if the game is important enough the Avs will go with their no.1, and Salo's not it.

Considering the stellar netminding he provided earlier

I'd say Salo sealed the Oilers faith long before an April afternoon game versus the Nashville Predators.

It would be funny if we needed him to play well on Sunday, funny in a four goals on 22 shots sort of way

extremely funny matts.

the scary thing, i felt more confident in former oiler marc lamothe tonight than i will feel with former oiler tommy salo on sunday if it comes to that.

Just going from memory here

but I think he was having a pretty good run until the Wild light him up this week for 5.

Shutout the Yotes, allowed 2 to the Hawks and then the Wings, tie and a loss. so four starts since he's been there?

that sounds about right doesn't it?

he's tommy, that's it

The Avs WILL play for the division title and they have record of 10 straight titles so they will be highly motivated.

That is, of course, if the Oilers win or tie the Canucks.
