I think Stajan will be a better player this year than last. I also think he'll be even better 2 years from now. As far as points go, if his totals drop I don't think it will be by much. I think he could just as easily have 60+ points. IMO he has good hockey sense.
The More I think about it, The more I realize that Matt Stajan should get traded.
But he IS better than what most of you give him credit for.
Maybe Package Stajan with White for a 1st and 4th 2010?
Its difficult to gauge the value of 1st rounders nowadays, but that seems like a total underpayment. RJ Umberger got a similar package all by himself a couple years ago...
I think that you might more packaging them separately. If White is traded, it should be at the start of the season and if Stajan is traded it should be at the deadline.
Are you also giving the team a couple kilos of coke + connections to move it?
a 1st and a 4th in 2010 for Stajan and white?
Edit*
i'll say stajan pots 10 goals 35 assists. Hopefully he's traded though
I'd say its fair value.
What's Stajan's value? I'd say a 2nd and a 3rd. He's signed at a great contract right now, and has shown that he can be a good 2 way 2nd line centerman, who is very capable of playing the 3rd line.
Burke wouldn't trade white for a 2nd, so I'd say his value is a 2nd and a 3rd.
a 2nd + 2nd + 3rd + 3rd = 1st + 4th IMO.
Plus these two players combined have a very low cap hit.... 2.2 mil. Great for a team pushing the cap.
no way White and Stajan get you a first and anything. saying Burke wouldn't trade White for a 2nd doesn't make his value worth more to anyone other than Burke.
I'm waiting to see all that great example again. He just does it all. Blocks shots, wins some faceoffs, scores points and some goals, passing that puck, getting over 40 assist points, like many elite players do. Stajan is one of the best here.

That was at the TDL. White improved even more since then.

Does the fact that Antropov was about to become a free agent play a part in that?
Of course. Not only that, it's also the reason he got traded at all. Burke wanted to keep him but as soon as he heard from Antropov's agent what the salary demands were going to be, he pulled the plug.

No way is Stajan worth a 2nd and a 3rd. He's not as good a player as Antropov, and all we were able to get for him was a mid-2nd round pick.
Stajan is worth a 3rd round pick. That's it.
Nobody is giving up 1st rounders anymore, unless the player coming back is an impact player, and impact isn't a word often associated with Stajan.

I'm not a fan of him, but he's worth more than a 3rd round pick. He'd be the a damn good 3rd line centre on any team, and he's only 25. But definitely not a 2nd and 3rd.
