Puck Daddy breaks down Roenick's legacy by team
(Sharks) A number of times Roenick would reach through my photo hole to pound fists or hand a puck over to fans. One time after being whistled on a faceoff, Roenick set up on the right wing along the glass. Before the referee dropped the puck, he reached over through the hole, grabbed a Twix bar from a teenager in the front row, took a bite, and gave it back. The rest of the game the whole section was laughing about it, and Roenick would wink at the fan when he skated by.

Haha I remember PJ first telling me that story.

I heard the news of JR's retirement this morning, and had to come here to see if it was true. It's definitely a sad day for the NHL. JR will definitely be missed.

I'm calling BS on this.....JR will come into the press conference, yell "GOTCHA!" and then announce that he's playing another year.

Yea. That's what's going to happen.

I had a dream that happened last night.

I also dreamed that Ryane Clowe was traded to Los Angeles for a draft pick. That was a nightmare.

If any of you forgot, the press conference is being streamed on sjsharks.com right now. He's talking about DW calling him and coming to the Sharks now, and getting emotional. Maybe he'll change his mind in a couple weeks...

I'm glad you guys love J.R, but even though he retired as a Shark he is a Blackhawk for life. Might even get his # retired. Everything monumental he accomplished was in the Indianhead. Same with DW unless he brings you a Cup of course. I am glad that DW gave him a couple of good years to go out on. I would'nt have wanted it to end in L.A. or Phoenix the way he was playing. DW is good people and one of the best Hawk d-men ever.

What a rude post. JR has been quoted so many times saying his time as a Sharks are his favorite, and he will be a Shark for life. Don't dismiss how important his time was here buddy.

I don't think his post was that rude. He stated what he feels, and he has some good points. But I also see your point, and agree 100% that there is a special place in his heart and life for the Sharks.

I think he's right though, I remember Drew asking Roenick what jersey he would wear if he got inducted to the hall of fame, Roenick said the Blackhawks jersey unless he managed to win a cup with the Sharks.

I stated the facts and I did'nt say he did'nt enjoy his time there. I'm sure he did. All I said was everything major he accomplished in his career was in a Hawks uniform. I'm glad you guys let him come back for a couple of years but that video had like 1 shot in a Hawks uniform and wayyyy too much Phoenix Coyote. When you think of J.R. you think of the 50 goal guy doing Roenickian spin'a ramma's in the indianhead. Let's not kid ourselves here.

I agree with what you're saying, but not "everything major". He did get 500 wearing teal ... and that clip of him skating with his son after 500 will be remembered when people think of JR.

Let me sum up what your original post felt like, "Sorry Sharks Fans, JR's a Hawk"

And when I think of JR, I think about his 500th goal in teal.

I'm sorry that it got interpreted that way but obviously I'm gonna feel that J.R. is a Hawk for life. The Hawks go out and get his childhood buddy in Tony Amonte who together form an incredible duo. Then 3 years later he gets traded, robbing us of any future moments. He left in 1997 and I always see him as a Hawk. It's awesome that you guys love him and I did'nt mean to diminish his importance to you Shark fans. I guess I'll never get over that. I'm sure if Thornton or Marleau ended up retiring as Rangers or something, you'd feel the same way.

come on guys. Can we put aside team allegiances for one day and just enjoy the fact that as hockey fans we were lucky enough to experience J.R's career?

Drafted by the Hawks, played virtually his whole career here. Holds the single-season record for Hawk D-men for points (85) Scored 39 goals in one season, won the Norris Trophy. Best D-man we had for over a decade. Also gave instant street-cred to you guys in your infancy when we traded him.
