4. Zherdev would like to remain in the Atlantic division for 2 reasons. He likes the light travel schedule and would like nothing more than to stick it to the Rangers.

The Devils have the cap space and just maybe Lemaire teaches this kid how to play, because "God" sure handed this kid a load of hockey skill. For one year, I would consider it and just maybe the kid has something to prove. Geez, all that talent and only 24 years old, take a shot Lou.

You wonder how hollow Nik's threats are to go to the KHL. I don't think he was happy with his situation in Russia when he bolted for the NHL in the first place either.

What's so frustrating with Nik is that he really has improved over the past few years. There were games that he was playing better defensively, and where you thought he was going to become a complete player. I thought he was going to finally mature into the player he could be in New York. It seemed like a good environment for him.

He has so much talent that he could be one of the top players in the world. Yet, he regresses at the worst possible times.

Ha ha. Oh god, this comment is priceless.

Zherdev = Oil
Lemaire = Water

Lemaire would hate Zherdev and eat him alive.

Lemaire has the rep as a coach who's good with young players and isn't as high-strung as Torts is. Just saying, something to consider.

Rangers lost Antropov, Gomez, Naslund and Zherdev...

Yikes, who will make the pass ?

Higgins isn't good, he sucks at passing the puck and can score 25 goals if everything goes well in his favor, with 1st PP time and top-6 minutes...

Gaborik is DEADLY, what a sniper, too bad he can't stay healthy to save his life.

Kotalik isn't a good forward, aside from his heavy slap shot and shootout skills he ain't a really good top-6 forward.

Below average Defensive Squad...With a very good goaltender thought.

I see the Rangers missing the playoffs next season.

The only problem is that they don't have very much cap space, and they'd need to move a guy like Moreau, Pisani or Staios.
Brochu says the Oilers aren't interested...He doesn't site where he got it though.

And for the people saying the rangers are going no where:
We got great defensive players and prospects
One of the top goalies in the league
A superstar(gaborik)
And good offensive prospects

I can only imagine what NYR fans will say if Gaborik will get injured. Replacing Gomez with injured Gaborik and losing Zherdev. Could be deadly.

I think Rangers will be fine tough.

He failed under Hitchcock too though. I don't consider him high-strung.

A team like Pittsburgh makes sense from the perspective of surrounding him with nothing but good offense and hoping he doesn't play completely lazy/timid/selfish.

He got it right from the Edmonton Journal. Pretty good source IMO.

That would be awesome if the Islander's signed him, do they have the cap space? Can someone fill me in on that?

(I know Tanguay plays the other wing, but you get my point)

I'm sure Sather was busting his ass. Teams just aren't spending money this off-season. A lot of potential suitors are already close to the cap, or at it.

Sucks to lose Tyutin / Zherdev for free (depending on your viewpoint) but I can't say I'm surprised.
I honestly think that the NHL right now is where Garth Snow was talking about it a year ago. Cap space is an asset right now, and if you're a team that is looking to move $'s, you're not going to get any sort of hockey return. There are good hockey players looking for contracts (Tanguay for example), and there just isn't budget or cap space available on the market to get him signed for "market value". If Zherdev on a one year $3.9M contract is unmovable, what does that say about the value of a bunch of other players.

It's almost like the credit crunch on the financial markets. Entire markets basically died because there wasn't funding available.

If the Hawks HAD to move Patrick Sharp - what's his value right now? I'd be it's REALLY damn low, because someone has to have the the $'s or cap space available to make a deal, which doesn't seem to be the case. You've got to have buyers to have an effecient market, and I don't seem them right now. That's a REALLY scary situation if you're a team that would like to move some salary (Chicago), or trying to move a high priced player (OTT with Heatley).

I think Van should look into to it. Sedins and Zherdev would not hurt.
